  1. Yea, I had tried it at one point as well and I was also wondering why I was having this problem. I had read someplace on the Microsoft site that encrypt password does not work with auto logon. Fixed my issue right away after the change. Hope it helped! Generic
  2. Your password is encrypted. Auto logon does not work with this option.
  3. Here is the other reg file. Regards, Generic RunOnceEx_RegTweaks.reg.txt
  4. Hey People, I was wondering if I can get some feedback on my registry tweaks. Basically this is for an unattended RIS install of Windows XP SP2. My registry edits seem to be working fine for the most part except for the: My Computer/Tools/Folder Options Files and Folders (Enable) ==> Display file size information in folder tips ==> Display the contents of system folders ==> Display the full path in the address bar Hidden files and folders ==> Show hidden files and folders These are the only ones that I can't seem to get working!? I am also looking at condensing my regedits looking at removing any garbage that I may have or redundancy. Here are my two reg files. The CmdLines_RegTweaks.reg is used during the CmdLines part of the install for Default User and of course the RunOnceEx_RegTweaks.reg is being ran at the RunOnceEx stage. Any feedback is most accepted! Generic CmdLines_RegTweaks.reg.txt
  5. Thanks for the replys people! It does help a great deal. Generic
  6. Hey People, I'm looking for some specific registry tweaks for customization of the explorer "Folders Settings" options. I have found the majority of these, but I'm just missing a couple more. I've tried doing a search but was unable to find. If you can either list the tweaks or forward to a post that has one/them it would be most appreciated. These are the ones I am in search of: ;----Explorer Options, View: (Enable) ;--Display file size informaiton in folder tips (Enable) ;--Display the contents of system folders (Enable) ;--Display the full path in the title bar (Enable) ;--Show hidden files and folders (Disable) ;--Hide extensions for known file types I'm pretty sure I've seen a post with them before, but just couldn't make sense of the specific keys. I'm also looking to remove certain shortcuts from the start menu from "default user". I do understand that this is probably pretty novice stuff, but I'm a pretty novice guy . I have some of these shortcuts being removed during the "RunOnceEx" stage, but I wanted to port these removals over to my "CmdLines" so it will affect globally to all users instead to only the Admin account. Are all Start Menu shortcuts found in the same location in the directory? These are the ones I'm looking at getting rid of: ;----Start Menu All Programs (non classic mode) ;----Outlook Express ;----MSN Explorer ;----Windows Messenger Can anyone help with my novice registry questions? Thanks in advance
  7. People, I need to have the local admin logged in upon first bootup after RIS. I understand that this is a no-brainer but... (guess you were waiting for that)... our domain policy changes our local admin account name during the RIS process so... if I can't specify the local admin account name, it (of course) doesn't login automatically. Now I need this to be done through the [GuiUNattended], basicly because having it anywhere else won't work... right? Also not having this policy running is not up for discussion. Any help or ideas would be faaaaaaaantastic beacuse I am stumped and it's affecting timelines. Generic
  8. People, I tried doing a search for this app but was unsuccessfull. What I am trying to do is incorporate Microsoft Journal Viewer with my SIF file, GuiRunOnce Batch file but of course can't because it's an MSI (Right?!). Not to sure if I have to extract this, and if so were to proceed after that... If someone can help out that would be fantastic either by pointing out a link to another page or by just telling me I'm stupid and this is how to do it Thanks in advance, Generic
  9. See it's not the windows detection of the drivers. it's at the post where it's needed to copy the drivers into the I386 dir for dos use so I don't see that drivers pack helping me out considering you said I need to modify the SIF OEM driver path which is only used during the detection of hardware in the GUI stage. Well Chudd, I know for a fact that if they are non windows xp packaged drivers you have to copy the .Sys, .inf and .Cat file into your image dir under the I386 directory. That is standard windows RIS practice. I'm just finding it really weird that the XP drivers don't pick up during post but the Win2k ones do!? ... Maybe I'll extract the Broadcom drivers from the driver pack and try those to post RIS. thanks for the pointers boys, but please keep them coming cuz I don't think this idea of mine will work. 10. Can anyone help me out here... I'm in charge of configuring our RIS server and I'm having some issues with the Dell D600 XP Boradcom driver (Broadcom 570x Gigabit Integrated Controller A02) and RISing. I copy over the three files to the I386 dir for post RIS like I'm supose to but post RIS still does not pick it up. Only time it does is when I copy over the WINDOWS 2000 Broadcom files. And even still it screws up after ~34min mark and restarts the installation. I am in the processes of creating a test RIS image to troubleshoot this more but I am seriously at a loss here. Anyone here have that problem or can think of a resolution? Generic
  11. Hey Hey people, If anyone can help with this, it would be most appreciated. We have a Windows 2003 AD environment and currently in the process of configuring our RIS server with XP to install company wide. We have finished our RIS and currently in the GPO and MSI pushdown testing stage but we have come to a hindrance with our GPO's. It seems that the option for hiding the "Printers and Faxes" shortcut on the start menu was not included as a function on the default GPO template for some odd reason. With the being said we decided to do some research and try to find the reg key associated to this shortcut and either add the option into the .ADM default template or create a new template with this key as the only option. Well that did not seem to work. With limited knowledge of the registry, we figure that this key is part of a 'restricted' part of the registry and cannot be modified this way. This is the key in reference: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced] "Start_ShowPrinters"=dword:00000001 We know that we can install this regedit via login script, but we are trying to phase out login scripts, and we are also aware that we can try incorporating this Key into our RIS running it at the "GUI Install" phase, but we want this limited to our Call Centre and not company wide and currently only have one RIS image. So, with that being said we're looking for a way to do this Active Directory wise, ideally with GPO's that can be easily modified. We are looking for any help and or suggestions that would aid us in our time of need! Regards, Generic
