  1. Well, never mind I was able to get it working But for some reason my Start Menu still is still not in the Classic menu. I tried rebooting the machine but still no luck I also found another registry edit that forces the start menu to be classic HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] "NoSimpleStartMenu"=dword:00000001 But I am trying to get it working on Windows 2003 A.S. Anyone out there facing the same problem...?
  2. And all of these edits can be applied with the command REGEDIT /S %systemdrive%\install\regtweaks.reg if you have the regtweaks.reg file in the Install folder. I tried to run the registry editor file on my current XP box but it did not change the settings. Does it work only on the first log on? I want to make sure that the settings work before I include it in my slipstream. Because I need these changes for my Windows 2003 Advanced Server slipstream also. thanks
  3. Hi, Does anyone know the registry tweak for customizing the Classic menu such that all the options are enabled when XP is installed. I want all theses options turned on by default Display administrative tools Display favorites Display Logoff Display Run Enable drag and dropping Expand Control Panel Expand My Documents Expand My Pictures Expand Network Connections Expand Printer Scroll Programs Show small icons in Startup Use Personalized menus
  4. Hi, Does anyone have an iddea as to how I can lock down a machine so that it does the updates and the system scan at a particular time each day, with the user not being able to change those settings. I know how to set a schedule up to do that, but the schedule is modifiable by the person using the machine. I tried playing with a few registry settings but instead, I messed up the machine and had to rebuild it................. thanks csaha
  5. If I understand it correctly you want to rename the administrator account right! csaha
  6. It should be cmdlines.cmd and not cmdlines.txt Try and see if it works csaha
  7. Another way is to format the drive using a low level format. Windows formats the system only in 0 and 1's. Use a thirf party software such as AutoClave to format your drive before you start loading the OS. Windows CD will reformat the drive but AutoClave wipes out everything............. it will erase your boot.ini as well Hope this info is useful csaha
  8. Well guys! Google is the way these days.................I think after some time people will be pursuing a degree in Google Search................... Anyway, I was able to get the problem sorted out. The Windows 2000 disks that I was booting from were made from a different Windows 2000 disk than the one I was booting from. This time I created disks from the CD I was planning to use, and it worked. Also I created a slipstream disk according to the configuration my friend wanted and when I created the boot disks from the Slipstream CD it worked just great..............fully unattended and just the way he wanted You bet, he was just thrilled............... So I feel much better now Thanks csaha
  9. Hi I am trying to repair my friends computer. It does not boot from a CD on startup. I checked the boot order as well as the CD-Rom drive. The bot order is set to boot from CD first and there is no problem with the CD-rom drive either. I am able to start a Windows 2000 installation from boot diskettes but after I insert the CD and format the C drive it says that the winnt.sif file may be corrupt or missing. On boot-up though if there is no media present other than the 2000 Pro CD it gives me an error message: NTLDR is missing Press Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart What should I do to start the installation. csaha
  10. Come on guys! Can anyonle help me out...............................I am so so stuck

  12. Hi, I have made a slipstream DVD that installs Windows 98, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows 2003 AS Enterprise Editiion, Office 2003 ad Roxio 6.0 in an unattended mode. I tested the DVD on a DVD drive and it worked fine. But when I tried to check my errors on Virtual PC 2004 it gives me the error: "This does not appear to be a CD image. CD image needs to be 2MB or larger in size" I have the full version of Vurtual PC 2004 so it is definetely not the problem of a trial version. I tried installing Virtual PC on two different machines but on both the machines I received the same error Any clues what might the problem be..................................... csaha
  13. Hello everyone, I am trying to get the Microsoft Live Communivcations Server 2003 running but am having problems trying to install it. This is the error message I receive during the installation (this is at the stage when it asks for the installation directories of the server and transaction log files): "An Unexpected error occurred while checking for necessary space for database files. Please try again" I tried changing the directories for installing the server and transaction log files but to no success. This is probably one of the best sources I could think of for getting help. Can someone please guide me in sorting out this problem, I will appreciate it. (bty I am running a Windows 2003 server on a new domain and I am logged inas the domain controller) thanks csaha
