  1. I get this message a lot since SP3 on vista with my unattended installs when it goes into GUIS mode after the first reboot. I have all the drivers from driverpacks being loaded, are they suppose to be loaded onto the HDD not into memory correct? Anyone else have this issue and is there a fix?
  2. Look on Microsoft's knowledge base on SMS and Operating systems on upgrading, installing, etc.
  3. Are you running SMS now or planning on it? I would put SMS up and push XP through that. Look at how to upgrade Novell, then push it through SMS. This way you wouldn't need to worry about differences in brands, models, etc.
  4. Ok, what about my other questions like using an OEM CD from Dell or other manufacturers that are already pre-activated?
  5. Great forum didn't realize that so many features and tweaks for unattended installs. I have a few questions. I run an office of about 800 computers, all Dell. All I have are the Dell reinstall CDs which are already activated. Some of our CDs have SP2 and the other don't. I have tried nLite already with the SP2 Dell CD with the updates slipstreamed and I get an error message of "winlogon process has failed" after setup copies the files and reboots. Questions: 1. Can I use these Dell CDs for an unattended installs? 2. If I cannot use the Dell CD's I do have access to an OEM version with SP1, but I am curious about activation and how to bypass this 3. $OEM$ folder, what is this for? I know it gets copied in the last stage of the text install, but does it execute the applications that are in there, or does it just copy the files? 4. I am looking for a beginner's guide step by step for idiots to do these. Thanks!
  6. Well, I found my OEM XP Pro CD at home, but it has SP1 already intergrated in it. Lets see if this one works properly.
  7. I have tried eliminating some of the older updates and this is still an issue. Note: This is an XP reinstall CD from Dell without any service packs in it. I may have a non-manufacturer OEM copy at home of Pro that I could use for the image, will that work, or do you need a retail version?
  8. I get the following error after setup copies everything over and reboots... STOP: C000021a The windows logon process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000354 The system has been shut down I tried searching for this error all over and cannot find anything relevant. Anyone experience this
  9. This is the first time I am using nLite, and this an awesome application, now only if I can get over this error, I would be golden.... I get the following error The following value in the .SIF file used by setup is corrupt or missing value 0 on the line in section [WinntDirectories] with the key "303" I am using the Dell restore CD, but I deleted the dell directory references in the txtsetup.sif Is there another reference somewhere? Can you point me in the correct direction?
