same thing happens with me. Win XP SP3. I don't know why it happens either. However for me it happens within 2 minutes. I think it might have to do with "Hibernate after X minutes" setting, but like you said even if you have it in never it still does it. I found another link after searching google that implies maybe it has to do with the source of power to your laptop (as the different power schemes have different hibernation settings). http://forums.lenovo.com/lnv/board/message...essage.id=23820 I can live with the problem , I just ensure that i start some program after resuming from hibernation. hehe but maybe you have to disable hibernation from all power profiles to make it work.... who knows... maybe it's a bug in the hardware. I have an HP dv9xxx series.
