  1. I would like to export a single category of contacts. Following the directions below using import/export, when I get to step 5 I cannot select an appropriate folder. The MAIL folders show up with no option to browse to a contact folder. Something is wrong. Suggestions? Thanks. How to export .pst file data If you want to back up only some of your Outlook data, you can create a new backup .pst file of only the data that you want to save. This is also known as exporting .pst file data. For example, you might want to use this section if you have important information in only some folders and you have other, less important items in much larger folders. You can export only the important folders or contacts and omit folders like Sent Mail. Follow these steps to export a specific folder: 1. Open Outlook. 2. On the File menu, click Import And Export. If the menu item is not available, hover your pointer over the chevrons at the bottom of the menu, and then click Import and Export. 3. Click Export To File, and then click Next. 4. Click Personal Folder File (.pst) , and then click Next. 5. Click the folder that you want to export the .pst file to, and then click Next. 6. Click Browse, and then select the location where you want the new .pst file to be saved. 7. In the File Name box, , type the name that you want to use for the new .pst file, and then click OK. 8. Click Finish.
  2. Although this problem has appeared in many questions, I found none of these questions answered! Strange forum behavior, indeed. In any case, I solved my problem. Apparently it was a Firefox issue. I made IE7 my default browser for a while. Hyperlinks in Outlook 2003 worked fine. Then I switched browsers (tools menu) back to firefox as default, and the hyperlinks in Outlook 2003 work fine. I don't know where I read that it was indeed a firefox issue.
  3. hyperlinks in emails read with Outlook 2003 used to work fine. Today they dont. I get the error message "this operation has been cancelled due to restrictions set on this computer...." I installed WinXP SP3 a day or so ago. Trouble with FIrefox (can I mention that here?) version 3 caused me to reinstall verions 2, also yesterday. Help. Thanks.
  4. How does Windows Media Player 11 (MP11) organize files? What tags does it use to set up its organization? I ripped a set of 78rpm records and converted them to MP3s. I used a tag editor to enter their titles, tracks, etc. MP11 got very confused. The folder containing all of these files does not appear anywhere. The files are listed in several genera. I want to keep all of them in one folder, with four subfolders, and I want MP11 to keep that organization. The question is, how does MP11 go about organizing files? What information does it use? Are there tricks to "outsmart" this process? This question has appeared many times in various places, with no good answer. Many thanks, in advance!
