I have the answer I had the same problem. I couldnt believe how little internet talk there is about this. Its odd, very few people seem to have experienced it. Anyways, I did. It also occured for me in my other office apps. After much much hair pulling I fixed it. I had created a new user account on the problem PC and for that new user I found the problem didnt occur. I then realised it had to be either a user registery or user files issue. As it turns out its an issue with files under Application Data. Goto: C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME\Application Data\Microsoft\ Its the Crypto directory. Just rename it when no office app is open. Then reload your excel or word and try again. If that doesnt work also try the same procedure with Credentials and CryptnetUrlCache folders but I believe just the Crypto should do it. Arkid
