  1. I downloaded that APUP, basically what it does it download load the autopatcher exe. and Also all the windows updates into a folder!!! exactly what i was looking for... However, after downloading all the updates, and then installing, I still noticed that some high priority updates were still not installed on the microsoft update website... I then checked the download directory where all the updates are stored, and couldnt seem to find them... Does anyone else have any experience with this program?
  2. I was doing some research on that ap... it appears as though it is not dead. i found this on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AutoPatcher Comeback Antonis revealed in the AutoPatcher Blog that his biggest concern after the project was shut down by Microsoft was that "people around the globe [would] start writing their own custom modules and start redistributing their own releases." He added that one of the security features in AutoPatcher "would automatically flag these releases as unofficial", but if end-users only had a choice of unofficial releases, the spread of malicious software would be very easy. As a result, Antonis continued to work on the AutoPatcher project, creating a tool — the AutoPatcher Updater, or APUP — to automatically download the required patches from Microsoft's web servers and store them in the same file structure used in previous AutoPatcher releases. Antonis revealed that once the files had been downloaded "everything remains as you know it."[5] I found the apup.... and found it very confusing? i guess because of the "everythig remains as you know it" I never knew it.... maybe you can help shed some light as to what i need to do with this thing! looks exactly like what i was looking for Regards, Peter
  3. Hi, I have been looking on the net for hours trying to find the best solution to update windows XP WITHOUT having to slipstream everytime a new update comes out.... What i need is a program that will do the following. 1) Be able to update windows xp without having to connect to the internet. So basically all upates reside in a directory, and then an ap can run all updates unattended Via WPI wizard. 2) I know all the updates can be downloaded easily via "windows update downloader" but at this point it becomes a pain to execute them 1 by one. or even slipstream it into a new CD.. I want to be able to run all updates unattended from a directory on the local disk. Any solutions?
  4. The program i am trying to run does not seem to work unless the following information contained in a .ini file is implimented? more specifically the registry portion. however i do not know how to impliment it via WPI How do I make it so the WPI adds this to my reg? [registry_addreg] HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\VMware, Inc.\VMware Workstation\License.ws.6.0.200610","StartFields",0,"Cpt, ProductID, LicenseVersion, LicenseType, Epoch" HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\VMware, Inc.\VMware Workstation\License.ws.6.0.200610","Cpt",0,"COPYRIGHT © VMware, Inc. 1999-2007" HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\VMware, Inc.\VMware Workstation\License.ws.6.0.200610","ProductID",0,"VMware Workstation for Win32" HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\VMware, Inc.\VMware Workstation\License.ws.6.0.200610","LicenseVersion",0,"6.0" HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\VMware, Inc.\VMware Workstation\License.ws.6.0.200610","LicenseType",0,"User" HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\VMware, Inc.\VMware Workstation\License.ws.6.0.200610","Epoch",0,"2006-10-1" HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\VMware, Inc.\VMware Workstation\License.ws.6.0.200610","Hash",0,"98e01f3a-6864c46a-849969a7-e06b810f-da083400" HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\VMware, Inc.\VMware Workstation\License.ws.6.0.200610","Serial",0,"XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX" HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\VMware, Inc.\VMware Workstation\License.ws.6.0.200610","Name",0,"YOUR NAME" HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\VMware, Inc.\VMware Workstation\License.ws.6.0.200610","CompanyName",0,"YOU COMPANY" HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\VMware, Inc.\VMware Workstation\License.ws.6.0.200610","LastModified",0,"2006-12-25 @ 15:19:33 UTC" Please help.
  5. Hi, I'm just about finished adding all the program for WPI, the last one i cannot seem to get! Daemon tools! i cannot seem to figure it out! no matter what i do Can someone please show me the command to put in for a no resart install of daemon tools. i would appreciate it.
  6. Almost all of us use one of 2 methods nLite or svcpack.ini what do you mean you can't choose which ones you want in nLite? It only integrates the ones you have selected... Anything besides nLite or hfslip is going to be moderatly to highly involved. what is this svc pack method you speak of?
  7. **** i really didnt want to do it this way. But i guess this is the only way i can think of where you can actually choose which hotfixes you want.. If anyone knows a better way, please let me know, I really dont wnat to have to do this....
  8. So I guess that doing it this way .... see below... really isnt a good idea..... prog[pn]=['WindowsXP-KB873339-x86-ENU.exe']; uid[pn]=['WINDOWSXPKB873339X86ENUEX']; dflt[pn]=['yes']; cat[pn]=['Hotfixes']; forc[pn]=['no']; cmd1[pn]=['"%wpipath%\\Install\\HotFixes\\WindowsXP-KB873339-x86-ENU.exe" /q /n /z']; pn++; prog[pn]=['WindowsXP-KB944653-x86-ENU.exe']; uid[pn]=['WINDOWSXPKB944653X86ENUEX']; dflt[pn]=['yes']; cat[pn]=['Hotfixes']; forc[pn]=['no']; cmd1[pn]=['"%wpipath%\\Install\\HotFixes\\WindowsXP-KB944653-x86-ENU.exe" /q /n /z']; pn++; This way you can select which hotfixes you want installed? is this a viable solution?
  9. I am used to slipstreaming hotfixes into an xp Cd using Nlite, but I really do not like this becuase you cannot choose which hotfix you want..... I then saw that you can download all the hotfixes individually in the unattended forum area. Now from looking at this I would think that you would have to add every hotfix individualy into the WPI config, then put them into a hotfix category... But I was wondering if you guys with more experience do it a different way that is not so involved?
  10. lol i see you changed your mind.. I saw the huge list in the unattended area like you said. Thanks again.
  11. hey Kelsenellenelvian, I am starting to get the hang of this program, it is great! I was looking over your sample config for some ideas as to how to do certain things, or what kinds of programs you use. it was very helpful thanks again! i noticed you have a bunch of registry tweaks that would be way better to select depending on instal rather then unattended. I tried looking on the net for a good place to find these .reg files or how to create my own... I was wondering if you could upload or post some of the registry tweaks that you have?
  12. Ok that worked! So instead of creating a new entry in the config and adding my own switches. I can just copy the executable the the instal directory, and past the js code into the config.js the i will see the entry in the directory! Thanks!
  13. So in essence what you are saying is that is really isnt viable to use, a .js file or a .ini file from an existing addon to cut and paste info into wpi. i can understand your frustration, however i did not download wpi to have addons intigrated without my having the option to choose. if that were the case i would stick to just Nlite.
  14. I know how to add multiple programs... and execute the exe file with a silent installer thats not a problem! But like i said these things have been pre configured , so it would be redundant for me to try and figure out the switches or even create an autoit script, since they are already done somehow in the .ini file.... Maybe you can break down where i need to put the infomation from the ini, or js file. for example. If i open up the daemon tools .ini file this is what i see. [general] builddate=08.21.2007 description=Emulation Program language=English title=DAEMON Tools (x86/32-bit) version=4.10 (with SPTD 1.50) website=http://www.daemon-tools.cc [EditFile] SVCPACK.INF,SetupHotfixesToRun,AddProgram [GuiRunOnce] %windir%\daemon\hidec.exe /w %windir%\daemon\dt410_spdt150_x86.bat [AddProgram] dt410_spdt150_x86.exe [registry_addreg] HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\dtools","DisplayName",0,"Daemon Tools v4.10" HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\dtools","UninstallString",0,"%ProgramFiles%\DAEMON Tools\uninst.exe" HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\dtools","InstallLocation",0,"%ProgramFiles%\DAEMON Tools" HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\dtools","DisplayIcon",0,"%ProgramFiles%\DAEMON Tools\DAEMON.EXE" I'm guessing the "guirunonce" is the key to installing the program but i do not believe i can just paste that line in the command box and pray it works? As for a .js file if i open one up i see this prog[pn]=['7-Zip 4.57']; desc[pn]=['7-Zip is a open source file archiver with high compression ratio.']; uid[pn]=['7Zip457']; dflt[pn]=['yes']; cat[pn]=['Utilities']; forc[pn]=['no']; configs[pn]=['yes']; gcond[pn]=['FileExists(\'%programfiles%\')']; cmd1[pn]=['%wpipath%\\Install\\7z457.exe /S']; pn++; I dont know where to paste this info? Sorry i am very confused, and i cant find anything to read for help! otherwise i would have read before asking you
  15. Kelsenellenelvian, Thanks for the reply! however i am still a little confused. as to what i need to do with the js file and the ini file? This i show far i've gotten.. 1) put the executable into the instal directory 2) configure the instal in the config menu of wpi, to instal silently with the /S switch 3)at this point i wish to instal anothe program like daemon tools or vmware which requires more switches and perameters, from what i've gathered from your post. i can use existing .ini files and .js files that are already pre configured.. But how do i use these files? where do i put the .ini file or the .js file? my question is . how do i utilize these files?
