  1. its a compaq evo n610c i got it barebone, had to get a new keyboard, new touchpad, hard drive case, hard drive, power adapter. had to put in a new power socket. had to take it apart and bend the pin back in the headphone jack. now it needs new usb sockets. i left it out in the hot trunk and the lcd screen boiled and the right mouse button quit working, but it still works. some buddies at a mechanic shop have an old technics receiver connected to an old bose 301 speaker. i want to hook it up to the receiver's rca input jacks and use ac3 filter for its time delay to see if i can get a better sound. i keep the computer around for emergencies.
  2. hearing that, i'll find something to trade for an old laptop hard drive.. that way i wont need to use nlite.
  3. i've got an old laptop with a 2GB hard drive. all i want to use it for is to play videos and music from media player classic home cinema with ac3 filter.. and maybe view some pictures in the picture viewer, but that is it. i've only got three blank cd's left and i cant afford to go out there and get some more. i need this fixed before i burn another disc. Last Session.ini
  4. i found 6 lastsession.ini files.. and those are dated 5-1-2008 so i guest i need to suck it up and try the unattended option. what is this about virtual install to test nlite settings that i've heard about? i remember reading about people 'virtually' installing the nlite version to check for errors/mistakes.. and i'd like to do the same. although i feel utterly confused, because i think you said 'if you choose the unattended option, the driver sign check will be disabled during installation of the operating system' is that correct?
  5. no, i didnt use the unattended option. wouldnt the 'ignore unsigned driver' feature of nlite help to create the problem? this nlite disc was created by me at least a year ago or more, so i dont remember what details i inputted into the software. i figure i would start fresh with a clean slate and make another attempt at using nlite. you say nlite has a feature that will/won't ignore unsigned drivers, surely i could benefit from having a second/closer look at this feature. where would i find some signed usb drivers? and how do i ensure that the drivers are infact signed, before i burn the finished results to disc?
  6. i have an issue with my nlite install disc. when installing windows xp i get a prompt that says 'standard enhanced pci to usb host controller drive is not digitally signed' and it gives me an option to continue anyway. then i get another prompt that says something about a different usb driver that is not digitally signed, i dont remember exactly but i think it is 'standard openhcd usb host controller' this is preventing me to go any further with the installation because when the second of the two prompts pop up, there is no usb input allowed.. so my usb keyboard and usb mouse are totally useless. i dont have an old school ps/2 keyboard handy to select 'yes continue anyways' therefore i would like to make a new nlite disc and this time fix this burden. how do i replace the unsigned drivers with some drivers that wont give a prompt during the installation process?
  7. bump.. i'd like to create a new cd. and im worried that whatever error i made will prevent me from activating a fresh install.. i think i got lucky this time because i already had a previous installation. next i need to make an attempt at adding all the updates so i dont have 70+ critical patches after a fresh install.
  8. i repaired my install with an nlite version since my original disc is service pack 1. i did the wizard and this is my first time using an nlite version. i'm assuming i got carried away with removing services.. although i did ensure that i checked the windows update option in the wizard. i must have manually removed something important. please help me correct this so i dont do it again. i have last session logs if you would look through them to see where i went wrong. 9. is it masterful? im probably gonna delete the sound part and not knowing the registry tweaks sucks for me.. it gets me all ill and i do registry tweaks myself, but your list may be larger. i wouldnt mind getting rid of the printer/scanner either because i dont use the thing that much.. time has taught that.
  10. You can skip alot of "useless" features if you skip IE and use FF, as for music production... be more specific, music production as in recordings (like live audio whatever editing or perhaps cutting audio for a certain band/artist, just for example...) an such, or editing/remixing digital audio? As for gaming it all depends on if your taking online based games (and I'm sure you are) in mind, and for that you can tweak most XP settings depending on what kind of games your playing. For FPS you might wanna keep some stuff like that codec (I assume it was called ACM?) for F.E.A.R and other games I guess. I could post a nlite setup, but I'm kinda out of internet connectivity (currently spending my time in this "internet cafe") so I might get my broadband back say in a couple of days since I moved to a new location. Oh and please dont define your version for "pure gaming", as "pure gaming" these days are mainly online based ones i want to cut as much as i can and install anything necessary upon initial installation of such software. i want to be sure all future installs can properly register.. i seen a huge list of software requirements, but i didnt see anywhere where it says those things cant be installed if obtained and registered. i think all my music stuff will install all of its own drivers and services to run.. i dunno if i could delete windows audio or not, but the communication between hardware and software should be very clear.. which is why i believe those such audio programs bypass the windows audio install.. speaking more directly to the hardware.
  11. i need one for internet.. games.. and music production lets get a version for internet/games and go share it.
