  1. I got rid of the hibernate file which was over 4gb. I went into the performance section and change the location of the page file to my other hard drive which they say will give you better performance anyway but there is a page file file still in my c drive with about 4.5 gb of space used. I also now have one on my F drive. I have the c drive page file shut off so there should not be one still there. Can I delete it?
  2. I think hibernate is taking up some. Can I get rid of it? With 4gb of ram my page file is big. Do I dare make it smaller? What about moving my page file to another hard drive. I have not done it before but I know many have.
  3. I have 3 partitions on my main drive and only one on the other. My vista is at 50gb as I am only putting the os and several small apps on this drive. All the other apps are on my other separate drive. My problem is that somehow the vista drive keeps filling up and I don't know why. I can't find anything that is adding up to 41gb that it says it is full of. Where could it be?
  4. I have dual booted and all seems to be working fine but I have a question. On my xp side my drives are different then on my vista side. I loaded xp first so c: was xp. Then I loaded vista later and when I was on my vista side vista became c: at least on vista side. I then formatted E: and my other hdd F. I looked at my drives on vista and here is what they are- C: Vista D: XP E: Music and documents F: Pictures, videos and programs files When I go to my xp side the drives are arranged differently. C: XP D: Music and documents E: Vista F: Pictures, videos, and program files It seems to be working fine but is this the norm. I tried to arrange it right but this is how it turned out. Anyone care to explain? Thanks.
  5. Yes, I see that. Just missed it I guess. A lot of writing on these pages and doing searches takes time and I must have not typed it in correctly. I will try to look closer next time.
  6. How do you restore the bootloader and how do you use grub? Thanks for all the great info by the way.
  7. So I can't use dual boot unless I use bartpe?
  8. I just want a concensus to the size of everyones partition for vista. I am going to dual boot xp pro and vista 64. I made xp 45gb because I will not be putting a lot of info on that partition. I was wondering what you thought a good size for vista will be? I was thinking around 100-120gb. I have many large programs to install like adobe CS3, office 07, etc that take up a lot of space. I want to future proof it for size. What is your take on this? I have seen some people say 20gb. Do you not put anything on this partition? That seems so small.
  9. I thought there was more to it. That is pretty easy. Just one question though about the repartitioning mishaps you were talking about. If you don't mind what are they? Thanks.
  10. It looks like both will work but it looks like installing xp makes it a little easier. Where can I go to find the directions to get the install done. I have two 500gb hdd. I will partition one to make three different partitions. One for xp, one for vista and one for documents. The other hard drive will be for video and music etc.
  11. I want to dual boot xp pro and vista. I have heard this and heard that but would anyone tell me what really seems to be the best order. XP first and then vista? If there is a best way where do I find the instructions on how to do it without any problems? Thanks.
