I don't know, it's been doing this ever since I installed XP. I had a pre-release of XP before I finally went out and bought the final version.. formatted my computer and installed the new XP, and it's been doing it ever since.
  3. Ever since I installed a fresh copy of XP my task manager has not worked propery, and what I mean by that is it always closes on me after about 1 - 5 minutes of use, and sometimes it doesn't even open. I used Windows 2000 for about 2 1/2 years before XP so I'm familiar with how things work, but this one has me baffled. I checked the logs and this is the only thing I can find that relates to the task manager: File replacement was attempted on the protected system file c:\windows\system32\taskmgr.exe. This file was restored to the original version to maintain system stability. The file version of the system file is 5.1.2600.0. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Any help is much appreciated!
