Downfalls to using IPB. I can honestly say I've never seen mysql errors on a vBulletin forum but vBulletin isn't free This thread is quite premature. Sp2 won't be released for another 2 days or so. There were some last minute kinks with major crashing issues and something to do with Divx codecs as well amongst few other things.

That's just more work on the database than necessary too.

I wouldn't be in too big of a hurry to get the service pack. As soon as that is released MS servers are going to be shot to hell and back and will crawlllll like mad. I remember when sp1 was released and that didn't have near the anxiety and appeal to the population as this one does and they were pumping out over 50 gigabytes per second and it was insane trying to download the sp. Also, there is some good news that MS has put forth. They're going to be giving free live support over the phone for any and all issues related to Sp2 and what it breaks to everyone that needs it. I thought that was a pretty nice move on MS' side of the chain. Now as for this thread, it's just silly It's a service pack not the girl of my dreams coming over for an amzing on night stand that will last for a week I don't have any desire, myself, to download this sp at all. Haven't downloading even a beta or an RC yet and don't intend to. All that bug hunting and troubleshooting can be left to the people that are interested in having things break hehe.

4.3.8 is good enough that it's installed to my webhosts main servers plus every other server they have. 5.0 is great except there are a few compatability issues and that's why 5.0 hasn't been added yet.

Well, instead of bothering explaining and troubleshooting this as I'm sure you're not running a large production server, I'll point you to what you should install instead of worrying about something so small as getting the gd2 extension setup. http://www.appservnetwork.com/ Download it. O&O and Diskeeper don't hold a candle to VoptXp. VoptXp is 10 times better and faster than both. Instead of just a defragmenter it's much more. It strategically places files for performance. Don't believe it? Test your system with SiSoft Sandra or over at pcpitstop.com first. After you run a good hard drive test, run VoptXp one time and retest. You'll notice at least a 10-15% increase in speed.

If the pci card you have it in now is malfunctioning or extremely dirty then of course it would make a difference.

Why do you need two polls for the same question? It's not my style really. If you're a beginner it's ok though. The sites that attract me generally are art based though so don't give up just by my comments Only suggestions I could make that will help you overall at this point would be to clean the layout up. It looks like a bunch of pieces of different puzzles just thrown together. Try to give the layout a bit of a "flow" to it so that it looks even and well desitributed. I just wish they'd allow you to have the "media center" segments of the operating system be just one program. That way you could buy the extra parts and install the software and go that route instead of being limited to the media center operating system. I'm not sure if that is Xp Pro with the media center addons or if it's Xp Home with the media center addons

You can make a counter script using images, yes. It requires using PHP and the gd extension. It's a good bit of coding but it can be done. As for flash, I'm not sure if it can be done or not. I'm pretty sure it can somehow using xml and actionscript but would also require php to write to the xml file and then have flash read from that xml file. Either way, that's a good bit of work just to have an image recreated on every hit.

There is absolutely nothing "wrong" with tables. They function perfectly well and load perfectly fine. A moderately experienced coder in html alone could make a good design using tables. Yes, you have more power with using the <div> tags and css but it's not easier. I'll never understand where anyone gets the term "easier" to do than using tables. Hello everyone. I'm interested in having a few things done a certain way with a semi-unattended installation cd. What I'd like to be able to do is just install Windows and all the service packs and/or hotfixes that I wish to use plus Windows of course. But I'd like to not have to install any extra software like Adobe software and other 3rd parties. What I'm wondering is can I make the installation to where it asks me to format or not and allows me to choose how to but the rest is automated? Then have it setup so that it allows my already installed software (to another partition) still work and have their proper settings and shortcuts still intact when the operating system gets reinstalled? If it's not possible then is it possible to be able to install all added software to a different partition? I literally have nothing on C drive except for Windows. The desktop is the only thing that changes on that drive. All my documents and such are on another partition as well as my software. I've looked through all the contributed software but am not really sure "where" to start. I've done all the slimming down of the source and have not added any hotfixes past sp1. Would anyone be willing to point to a good starting point and even maybe a "process" to go through?

Well I didn't remove shell images or ports. Both take up very little room and I never got any advice so I just didn't want to chance it. Aside from that though, after running all the batch files, I'm left with two folders outside of the I386 folder. One is "always" and the other is "optional". My question is can these be deleted? Everything inside both folders looks to be everything else that I've just removed but just wanted a bit of reassurance that they're not there for any other reason but to serve as a quick and easy method to delete them Thanks.
