I get the same response each time. If you notice there is no chipset drivers, no modem drivers, wlan, ethernet, sound, or video drivers. No they are not the same drivers as the DV9000 as those where the first drivers I tried. But since it sounds like you all aren't interested maybe I should delete the links and let you people fend for yourself.
  3. I feel your pain, HP/Compaq has joined M$ in trying to force everyone into using Vista as somebody else said , "HP has drank the M$ koolaid." BTW. I have had no stability issues at all on my DV6605us. Read this: http://www.msfn.org/board/HP-Compaq-XP-Drivers-t108829.html
  4. I have found, and if your reading this I'm sure you have to, Hp/Compaq do not offer support for Windows XP anymore. All new laptops come with Vista pre-loaded and they will not help you find drivers to do what they call "downgrade" from vista to xp. This is, what I think, a bunch of B.S. as I know there are XP drivers out the for these products. I made a huge mistake in not researching this before hand, with the holiday price of $399 and all I just jumped on it and bought an HP DV6605us. I should of bought a Dell instead. Anyway, after searching for 2 weeks and reinstalling Black XP 5, 8 times, which by the way, is the only way I could get video due to the fact XP Pro SP2 doesn't have nVidia GeForce drivers and Black XP has RyanVM's Driver Packs in it. I finally found a solution. I found, through trial and error, all of the XP drivers for these Vista only machines are on HP's and Compaq's support site. They are all there and I know HP knows it. They are found on different models that came with XP pre-loaded but had the same or similar hardware. I know it seems like a real pain in the a**, well, it is but, you can find them. In my opinion Vista isn't ready to for public use and is still at best a beta version, like WinMe which also fell flat on it's face. I have links here for the drivers I am using. These where posted by DavidPro on another site. He was on the ball way before I was. I just confirmed his findings and made sure his drivers where the same as mine after I had already got my laptop working. Plus he doesn't speak or type english very good, not that I do either. If these drivers don't work for you and you have an intel based HP or compaq you will find the correct ones by searching on HP/Compaq's support site. You just have to find a laptop with the correct chipset that had XP pre-loaded or was a CTO model. I promise it isn't easy and I even debated recovering my laptop back to vista at some points but, I, to M$ and HP's dismay, have prevailed and done what HP said couldn't be done and what M$ didn't want to be done and "Downgraded" my laptop back to the best 32-bit O/S M$ has made, XP. The Instructions are in spanish. If you need another language use google translate or babelfish. I hope some of you find this helpful.
