  1. Didn't make a difference. I'm gonna burn the ISO image very slowly, that might make a difference. PS I always verify my burns, is that enough?
  2. It is downloaded ISO Enterprise 90 day trial. I've been told that 6GB can some times conflict with the install. I'll take 2GB out and then try and install.
  3. Windows is still installing, it's the restart that is part of the install. This is 64 bit. I've noticed the hard drive has an apple symbol on it, but it is a Western Digital WD1002FBYS, which should work with windows.
  4. I installed Win7 clean and after the first restart fails to load. I tried in safe made and it locks after it says loaded: windows/system32/drivers/disk.sys I am running i7 920, Gigabyte EX58-DS4, Sapphire 5870, Pioneer Blu-Ray BDC-S02, WD 1TB, Zalman 750W. What is wrong?
  5. The function keys have stopped working on my ASUS M51SN Laptop. Only some have stopped working (like the audio controls) while the LCD switch is still working. Also the multimedia buttons don't work. I think I accidently deleted something when trying to remove a persistent virus. Which driver should I uninstall and re-install? The ASUS Support website is currently not working... Running Vista Ultimate SP1 with latest Microsoft/Windows Updates on an ASUS M51Sn Series. Thanks ASUS Laptop Specs Options: CPU: T9300 HD: 200GB Optical: DVD Super Multi Light Scribe
  6. I'm not sure if this is a viurs as I was having problems recently. From the Startup Tab of System Config: Startup Item: BM3dd5734f Manufacturer: Unknown Command: Rundll32.exe "C:\Windows\system32\ymcpgukb.dll",s Location: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run Simply disabling it would mean it would try and enable its self again. I had to block it from changing and rename it at the same time. Now when I reboot a Windows Error occurs by where ymcpgukb.dll could not be found. Is it actually a neccessary process? If not what can I do to get rid of it? Running Vista Ultimate SP1 with latest Microsoft/Windows Updates on an ASUS M51Sn Series. Thanks ASUS Laptop Specs Options: CPU: T9300 HD: 200GB Optical: DVD Super Multi Light Scribe
  7. I don't know what I did. But it's fine now...
  8. I just got a new 22" WS Monitor so I made my taskbar twice the size it usually is. I've got it auto-hiding and locked which is great. BUT once I restart my computer is goes back to the single size. What's happening? How can I fix it?
  9. I'm connecting my Acer Travelmate 270 to an LG PAL (Australian) TV. I've enabled mirror monitors. The display I get on my TV is black and white and flickering. I've adjusted all the settings available in the SiS 650 TV Output menu (AntiFlicker Mode, Chrominance, Filter Sharpness, Colour Calibration: Coarse, Fine, Saturation). Nothing seems to work. I'm running Windows XP SP2 with all necessary updates to software and hardware drivers. PS: Specs for Acer Travelmate 270 can be found here. Alterations are the: - CPU to Mobile Intel Pentium 4 2.00 Ghz. - HDD to Samsung HM160C - Added 1GB of RAM to empty slot. S-Video works fine on other laptop.
  10. How do you know this? Are you referring to my BIOS. If you had the Pentium M like he originally thought, then he would've been correct. However, since you have a Pentium 4-M then you should have some upgrade options available. Again, we're not giving you any guarantees. To be completely honest, if you can even find a P4-M you'll probably spend more on the CPU than the laptop is worth. I'll look into prices on eBay, that's if I can find one that's compatible. Now I have a CPU to sell... ------- EDIT------- Found some CPUs from this list on eBay. Here's the prices incl. postage: 2.6 Ghz $AU157.86 2.4 Ghz $AU129.44 2.2 Ghz $AU86.50 2.0 Ghz $AU46.00 or possibly cheaper. I'm leaning towards the 2.0Ghz just because I'm poor. I'm I really going to get much more performance out of the 2.2Ghz? Also the 2.0Ghz is from Australia so I feel more confident it won't get lost in the post and I don't have to use Paypal. -------------------- Yeah I'm gonna buy another stick of 512MB soDIMM DDR1 226 RAM for the spare slot. I don't think I can get access to the other one, can I? I'm also getting a bigger and faster HDD from 20GB to 160GB and 4200rpm to 5400rpm.
  11. How do you know this? Are you referring to my BIOS. As far as I could tell the different versions are just, they'll still be compatible. How can I tell before I buy a certain CPU if it is compatible with my BIOS? Thanks again. I don't know why my chipset SiS650 won't support other Pentium 4's. It says so here that it does. It must be my BIOS. Granted it also supports a max FSB 400Mhz.
  12. As I mentioned above (in an edit) can I upgrade to these processors?
  13. Okay so I currently have installed this Pentium 4-M 1.7Ghz and is working fine. I have bought and want to install this Pentium 4 3Ghz. Am I screwed because they have different Manufacturing Technology? 0.13 micron vs 90nm? Are these the only processors my chipset will support? They are all Pentium 4-M processors, they all have the same bus speed, 400 Mhz, the same package type, 478 pins and same manufacturing technology, 0.13 micron. The fastest being at 2.6Ghz, which is still a good upgrade from 1.7Ghz. Thanks for all your help.
  14. I'll check the Acer website for a BIOS update (I'm sure there will be one) and hope that fixes the problem. Here is a Flash BIOS, is this going to help? I didn't see any beeping or blinking. It's a laptop so I haven't taken a cover off that reveals any of the lights in further detail. I didn't check the CD Drive light, could that be a chance? My Acer is a Travelmate 270. More specifically a 273XVi There's a unit manual here, how's this going to help? EServiceInfo had this. NB there's 2 parts. Okay I'll leave the drivers alone. Thanks so much for your help. Hope to hear from you soon.
