I have SQL 2000 server running on a Windows 2003 Server. I have a few web sites on the same server that is connected to SQL 2000. My Question is I would like to back up each DB at a time and then store it on Tape or DVD for safe keeping. That way just incase the server crashes or if I want to move a DB to a different server later I could do so. If some one could give me a easy step by step on how to backup each DB that would be great. I just want to make sure if I ever restored a DB it would work. Thanks

I have 5 differant printers loaded on a Windows 2003 Domain Controller. I just started getting a problem the other day out of the blue. All printers are not showing up unless I restart the spooler service. Then about an hour goes by and I have to restart the service again. And when I do I get a error in the event log: Faulting application spoolsv.exe Event ID: 1000, Faulting module zlhp1020.dll. I did remove a year ago a printer named HP laserjet 1020 that references to that .dll but its not installed anymore. As of today I removed all printers and uninstalled all software to all printers and I still am getting same error. Now when I go to try to add a network printer on the network all printers still show up when they should not show up anymore because I removed them completly. So one how do I fix error and two how do I remove printers so they don't show up on the network after they have been remove. Any help would be great.... Thanks......

Windows Server 2003 Domain Secure Web sites in IIS
Deploysrs posted a topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
I have a Windows 2003 server that is part of my domain that is used to develop web sites here at my office. We use our static IP with port #'s right now to get to them exterally from the web to let the client veiw them before we push them Live. Right now I do not have any protection on the sites and I would really like to have each site be password protected. Can someone please give me a step by step on how I can protect each site with a user name and password. Thanks, -
Sharepoint services 3.0 problem (default.aspx Issue)
Deploysrs replied to Deploysrs's topic in Microsoft Office
When I try to log onto the Site without the /default.aspx added after the AP ( http://24.230.121.8:8082/AP) it does ask me for User name and password. After I put that in it tries to display the site but then Internet Explorer comes back with the splash page that say (Internet Explorer cannot Display the Webpage). So if I go back to internet explorer and put in the /Default.aspx it displays it perfect. -
I just installed Sharepoint Services 3.0 with SP1 on a Windows 2003 Server today. I was able to create new sites and add user fine. But everytime anyone wants to get to the site they always need to type this address with the default.aspx to view the site if not they can't get to it. Example1: Http://24.230.212.8:8082/default.aspx Example2: Http://24.230.212.8:8082/AP/default.aspx (AP is a site I created) As you can notice that I went into IIS and assigned port 8082 to sharepoint. The reason I did that is because I have some sites using por 80 already and I figured it would be ok. I have used port #s before on my old Sharepoint services 2.0 and it worked fine. If anyone can tell me how to figure out how to fix this issue so I can type in the address without typing the default.aspx. I would be very greatful.... Note: This issue also creates a problem when I go into outlook2007 and sync with sharepoint services calendars because of the default.aspx. It does sync but throws an error after sync to so like it didn't sync when it really did. THANKS,

I have allot of employees that need to hang onto e-mail for 2 years. How can I keep outlook 2007 PST file down under 3 gigs. I have a lot of employees that have PST files as big as 10 to 16 gigs. Is there any other way then Archiving in outlook? Does anyone know of any third party apps that can extract the e-mail and move it to a Hard drive folder but also be able to view if necessary. That way Outlook can stay under 3 gig mark but employees can still read old mail. I have been manually moving the e-mail to a folder on the hard drive but I was hoping there was a program that could do it for me automatically.

Thank you for letting me know. That must be true because I do have Visual Studio and .NET Framework 2.0 loaded on that server.

I have a windows 2003 domain controller with 3 printers installed and shared to all users on the domain. I need to know how I can watch all the users on the domain to see who prints to what printer and how many pages they print. Can any one tell me how I can do this? I know I can logon to the printer its self. But It doesn't show by user name on the domain.

That is correct, you cannot VPN into a network running the same IP addressing scheme as your own, otherwise routing fails completely (which is why you see that changing the IP range on the client resolves the issue). Sometimes this can be avoided via static routes and breaking up one subnet or the other into smaller subnets, but that's a pain and easily avoided if you set your domain network config differently than you expect clients to use. To this end, you should try to use nonstandard private ranges when setting up networks (like 10.200.x.x or 172.29.x.x instead of 192.168.x.x), because most home routers default to a subnet in the 192.168.x.x range. This will save you much trouble in the future - and reconfiguring your domain network to a nonstandard private subnet like 172.29.x.x or 10.200.x.x if you're using DHCP for clients and static IPs for servers is very easy and should only take a few hours of downtime to change over and get up and running again. Thanks for the help everyone. I now know that I should setup a network that is going to run RRAS in a different Subnet then the default 192.168.1.1. (Problem Solved)

I have Routing and Remote access configured on my Windwos 2003 Domain Controller. Its setup to do PPTP and to give out IP address range from 192.168.1.200 to 192.168.1.211. I do not have the Domain controller running DHCP. Instead I have the Netgear VPN Firewall Router Running DHCP with range 192.168.1.1 up to 192.168.1.254 with mask 255.255.255.0. I did reserve ip range .200 to .211 not to be used so that Routing and Remote Access can use it. My problem is this, Everyone can connect to Routing and remote access fine. But if someone at home connects to the (RRAS) and they have the same IP address range 192.168.1.1 on the network at home they aren't abel to view the network at all. I did notice if you change the home network address to like 10.0.1.1 network range they can. I do understand the problem some what. I know that if your connected to the (RRAS) and you look for a network share at lets say 192.168.1.10 its going to look locally to the home router and not the (RRAS) office network. My only problem with this is that the home routers are factory defaulted to use 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.254 range. How can I make (RRAS) work without having people change the home network address and with out changing my network Office address to a different IP range.

I have a Windows 2003 Server named (Master1) that is connected to the Windows 2003 Domain called (ferrara2) in the Office. I just configured the Master1 server with DNS installed. I also configured DNS on Master1 to host a new Domain Name by adding a Forward lookup Zone File. Everything looks like I am good with all my configurations. It looks something like this: (SOA) ns1.example.com,webmaster.example.com Nameserver (NS) ns1.example.com Nameserver (NS) ns2.example.com ns1 Host (A) 207.0.0._ ns2 Host (A) 207.0.0._ www Host (A) 207.0.0._ I also paid for the Domain Name with Network Solutions and configured the names servers to point to ns1.example.com for the primary name server. After that I configured the secondary name server to point to ns2.example.com So my question is now how do I get my Master1 server exsposed externally to the WWW so it will respond to Network solutions domain name and then have it display my web site that installed on my Master1 Server. I have a Netgear VPN Firewall Router that is connected to a Cable modem with a static IP.
