  1. I flat out refuse to put them on vista, most of the machines are barely capable of running xp pro (256 RAM) and it is a non-profit, so I dont see them spending much money. Like I said, unless absoulutly necessary, I really want to avoid reinstalling/ghosting windows
  2. Ok, I keep hearing about the T13 method in regards to changing reg values. I want to use it to change the default profile key, but...what is the the T13 Method?
  3. I am actually in the middle of a project where my unattended disc will be used by my company (and got royally yelled at about putting the oem logo's in there). The advantage I find is that: A. Any issues that may occur is less likely to occur on all machines because the settings may be different here or there B. If you slipstream the drivers properly, you can pretty much install xp on any machine, and the drivers will work off the bad (very nice for those pesky network card drivers) C. Sometimes, you just need to clean out the machine, and it makes it simple and, if done right, quick as @#%$@$#. Anyone have anything else to add?
  4. My company has taken over a desktop situation that is a complete disaster. The users have myspaceim, video games, aim, some random wallpaper programs...pretty much a ton of bloatware. The machines are all different models and brands so I cant just reghost all the machines. Ideally, I would like to be able to retain the data on the machines (some of the machines have apps that need to be on there like their sql database front end and it is a pain to reinstall) and I also don't want to have to go to each machine and just clean each one up (I tried on one, it took almost an hour to uninstall all the carp they had on their machine, and that was a light one). I was thinking of setting up my ideal machine, using sysprep, and then run that to install, but...my question becomes, is that really going to remove the programs I don't want, it seems it just reinstalls windows, which doesn't really do much to aid in my issues of the third party apps. Is there another solution to "mass-clean" the workstations, its about 30-40 total. Any ideas for the brain storm?
  5. like, we set up a profile to our liking, then we copy it over to the "default profile" folder in documents and settings, and taht profile is what shows up when a new user logs in for the first time on the machine

  7. The IE7 thing is easy with nlite, its just slipstreams in, but I cant seem to get the wmp 11 to slip stream in at all, it keeps telling me it cant be slip streamed into it. Any ideas on the media player 11?
  8. My company has been installing office 2007 on new machines lately. I was wondering, b/c very often the users do not know the interface at all, and I really don't have time to train them while I am building a DC from scratch, is there a way to get the interface of the office 2007 app's such as word and excel to look more like their 2003 counteparts?
  9. My company uses a unique default profile setting, and we are interested in knowing if it is possible to import some sort of registry file into the install cd so it installs with those settings...so, i ask the experts, how do you do that?
