  1. Nevermind, I seem to have solved it. The missing components were Windows Connect Now, for the WLAN problem; and Removable Storage Management, for the USB drive, even though it mostly mentions things like changers and jukeboxes.
  2. Hi there, I've been through around 6 or 7 separate vLite'd ISOs, and have given up trying to solve these problems. I hope someone here can shed some light on this for me. 1) In each installation, I have an unknown device that occurs when I plug my USB pen drive in. If I try and install drivers, it identifies the device as "Microsoft WPD FileSystem Volume Driver", but fails to install a driver with the error: "A service installation section of this INF is invalid. The pen seems to work okay in Explorer inspite of this. 2) When I try and connect to a wireless network in the list, it instantly fails. If I manually add a profile, it connects without any problems. As far as I'm aware, I have all the required networking and WLAN components. The WLAN has no encryption enabled. I haven't removed any of the Hardware Support options, and have no conflicts when I proceed past component removal. I'd appreciate any input anyone might have.
  3. Unfortunately I don't have the disc anymore that I vLited. I guess I can live with the error.
  4. Hi there, I'm receiving this error at the moment on my new vLite'd Vista x64 SP1 install. Most of the options are non-functional in the tasks pane with the same error. I found another thread on the subject, where the people there fixed it by not removing UAC... however, I haven't removed UAC. I also left the Network List Service and Network Location Awareness services intact. Does anyone have any input as to which components are required for the Network & Sharing Center to display properly?

    Modem support

Hi there, I thought I'd perfected my ISO... it seems not, as a new optional component for Modem Support eluded me. Now the internal modem in my laptop can't install properly, even with the driver. Is there any way to restore the .INF, or whatever it is, to enable support for modem hardware? Cheers
  6. Sorry, I wasn't suggesting it was vLite's fault. It gets weirded. The file posted (thanks, btw), once copied to the directory, with the Add New Device dialog pointed there, now results in this error: This operation requires an interactive window station Any takers?
  7. Interesting, I just had a look at my usbstor.inf in C:\Windows\Inf, and it appears completely blank. Could someone post the contents of this file onto the forum for me to copy?
  8. Not sure I follow. The system recognises the device, it just can't find the appropriate driver. How will the motherboard software help?
  9. Hi there, My vLite'd Vista x64 Ultimate install seems to be missing the driver for a USB Mass Storage Device. Could anyone here upload it somewhere? I'd greatly appreciate it. Many thanks.

    Dreamscene question

Indeed I have, thank you, but both of these file sets are intended for the x86 version of Vista, and produce no results in the x64 version. Infact, they break the Personalization control panel. Comparing those files to the original Dreamscene files from an x86 installation shows some differences, so the files seemed to require modification to work. Whatever the modification was, I'm imagining that the same thing needs to be done to the x64 files. Exactly what that thing is though, I'm not sure.
  11. Hi there, I've installed a vlite'd Windows Vista Home Premium x64, for the sake of saving the space and resource used by Ultimate, although I would like to be able to run Dreamscene on it. I know that there's a modification available for x86 systems to run Dreamscene, consisting of themecpl.dll, dreamscene.dll, the mui files, and some registry tweaks. I've extracted the relevent files from an x64 install of Vista Ultimate, and have copied them into the relevent places in my Home Premium install, however, I cannot get the Dreamscene section to display in the Personalization control applet. I've removed Windows Media Player, although left the Windows Media Codecs installed, as vlite made specific mention that they are required for Dreamscene to work. Evidently the files must be modified in some fashion to work... could anyone give me a point in the right direction? I've no idea where to start, and Google has turned up nothing of the person who originally made the modification. Many thanks.
