  1. Yeah I did know that and tbh we arent a premier customer but I got ahold of someone who didnt want to charge me and well Meh not to happy with them 4 hours on the phone and xfered 5-6 times finally got ahold of someone that knew what he was talking about and I decided it was time for me to go home and I will deal with them today.
  2. Well contaced Microsoft for the hotfix KB939273 They send me an email back stating its only for XP media edition, XP Tablet, Server 2003, and Windows 2000 So I sent another email back stating that fine if its not the right one find the right one and send it to me... lol Wont get me anywhere but at least I made them read a 2 page email Getting really tired of the run around from them. We pay for support and its a joke. I get more help from here then I do from them. Which reminds me. I think its time to donate a little to keep this Forum up and running. Thanks guys will post if I find a true answer to this problem.
  3. Thanks guys I am going to take a look at both. Will report back if I am still stumped.
  4. Ok we have 400 plus computers mostly running XP PRO SP2 pushing updates through wsus server All systems have office 2003 with the exception of a couple office 2007 machines. Running the two part fix for the svchost problem does not work. Problem is so severe that it is affecting the buisness and the amount of work that people can actually do. Has anyone tried anything else to fix this problem. We do not leave our pcs on all the time at the current so setting up to automatically download and install during the off hours will not work. And of course it does not affect any set group or type of computer it picks and chooses who it wants to mess with and today it just had to be people in our administration who dont understand why we cant get the problem taken care of. Any and all help would be appreciated. DC and DNS servers are all 2003 servers. If I am leaving anything out please let me know and I will get you the info. Thanks in advance.
  5. Trying to connect to a VPN from my house. Have been succesful on both of my XP machines however on my Vista buisness 32 bit platform I cant it says connecting and then fails on User and Pass. I do know my pass and user is there a setting I am missing somewhere? I have checked side by side and everything seems to match Im at a loss and about ready to format this one back to XP.. Just did it for some testing but that requires a VPN Connection Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks!!
  6. Hello Kelly nice to see another Kansan on here
  7. Hello just wanted to say hello. I am pretty fluent with just about any flavor of windows and linux. Only thing I pretty much refuse to learn is Mac-n-Crap computers. Dont want to and WONT !! Found this forum while looking for a problem within Office 2003 found my answer and figured I would stick around and see if I could help others as well. Take care Curtis
  8. What os and system are you running? Thanks!
  9. Have you tried reassociating the quck launch and shortcuts with the .exe file for them?
  10. Well in my case it was a dummy error. Mine was related to DNS. for some reason they used to manually enter DNS. Well we just changed DNS and with the old DNS in there it would try but time out before moving on. Once I chost to auto find dns the pcs started connecting a lot faster. However now I have to find a way to make that change to all the machines. Hope it doenst involve touching each one because dam Im gonna get tired of all that clicking. One question for you have you tried forcing DNS just for the hell of it just to see if that would help? I know you said it doesnt seem to be a DNS problem but maybe since they are both on the same server they are griping with each other for some reason. Just an idea. Thanks!!
  11. Found this article.. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/839883 Well I fixed it on my own Found out it was due to a mapped network drive that was no longer there. Just in case anyone else has the same issue Have a great day
  12. I wonder if it has something to do with DNS?? Timing out maybe?? I mean it has a list of things to go down first Local Cache Hosts DNS WINS Broadcast LMHOSTS if it times out on all usually Broadcast will pick something up. Just an idea. Going to check it when I get back
  13. I just looked at ours. The times were very similar. took 21 seconds before it recieved a DHCP address and then took 75 seconds before it was pingable. Cant tell you if its always been this way since I just started but it does seem a bit slow to me this way. I know this is an old post but I am hoping you found out the problem as This is a 2000 server and not 2003 (Cheap people!) Anyway let me know have a good day.
  14. Not sure what to do here. Have a machine that is having problems browsing folders when going to save a file. I can manually type in the drive I want it to save to and it goes fast but if I use the drop down menu to select a drive it takes upwards of 1-2 minutes before it will let me choose the drives and folders. This normally isnt a problem for me becuase I hate browsing that way but I dont and cannot expect the rest of the staff here to have the same outlook on it as I do! lol Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Curtis
