I have resorted to the original XP CD and I am still in a loop. The BIOS recognizes the disk. Window recovery tool can chkdsk and format. Windows textmode can format and says it copies files. Then it reboots and can not find the disk again. My BIOS even starts looking for a network to boot from. I have had XP on this computer but tried Vista and am screwed now. My bios is set to legacy IDE tye drive (its a SATA). Any ideas what else to try?
