  1. FYI - Another discovery I just logged into my computer under a new user name and started Outlook. It created a new .pst file. I was able to open up the PDF attachment that I wasn't able to open using my own login name (in my personal environment). I guess there is an association missing between Outlook and Acrobat PDF files. In another word, when I want to open a PDF file from Outlook, Outlook doesn't know how or what to open the file with. Now do I make that relation?
  2. I forgot to mention that I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software, as well as running the detect and repair function. Still No Luck.
  3. I have created a folder called “FaxThruMail” containing mail items under Inbox; for the purpose receiving PDF files that my online fax service generates. Basically if some sends me a fax, Fax Thru Mail service converts that fax into a PDF file and emails it to me. When I receive the email from Fax Thru Mail, it attaches a PDF file to the email. 1 - At the time of opening the attachment, it asks me whether I want to open the file or to save it to disk. - If I click on open the attachment, it opens up the folder “C:\WINDOWS\system32” - If I click on save as, the save as window pops open and prompts to put a file name. When I give it a name and save the file, I get the message “Outlook cannot save the URL to a file. Path does not exist. Make sure the path is correct.”. 2 - If I double click on the email to open the email, - I get the message “ Could not open one or more attachments” error twice. - After pressing OK twice, the email opens up (without showing the attachment in the body of the email). - Then I go to File-> Save Attachment As, file name appears. When I click on save. I get the error message; “ Cannot save the attachment. Can’t create the file: incomingFax.pdf. Right-click the folder you want to create the file in, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu to check your permission for the folder” message. - When setting up and account in Outlook Express, Express opens the same email with attachment, on the same computer that I’m having the problems perfectly. - To troubleshoot the .pst file, I have taken it to another PC with outlook 2000, and it opens up the same emails with attachments perfectly. Any ideas? What do you think is wrong? This was working before! I am running XP Home edition.
