  1. Okay, I've tried this again on a clean (original) installation, and I'm still getting similar problems installing the update. It appears that the problem is with Microsoft and not vLite. So apologies for the false alarm, but I'd be interested to know if anyone else has problems installing this update. Thanks.
  2. I have tried this using a non vLite system (on the same computer) and the update installs fine. So could this be a compatibility issue ?
  3. Has anyone managed to install KB932596 64-bit kernel patch protection update via Windows Update ? This was released 14th August. (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932596) I am running an x64 vLite system. Initially it downloads and installs okay, but when I restart Windows, it says Configuring Updates, but then it locks up. After a hard reset, Windows Vista rolls-back the update. I have tried this several times but keep getting the same problem. All the other updates have installed fine.
  4. Okay, I tried again. Disabling Volume Shadow Copy does interfere with System Restore. Here is the error message when opening the System Protection page- "There was an unexpected error in the property page: The Volume Shadow Copy service used by System Restore is not working. For more information view the event log. (0x81000202)" I have attached a screenshot plus the Last Session file (I'm guessing this is the preset file that you refer to). Let me know if I can help further. Thanks. Files.zip
  5. I haven't got around to testing this further yet, but the error message shown above is the same as me. Are you using the 32-bit or 64-bit version ? I have 64-bit.
  6. To test this out, I re-built a new OS, and ensured that System Restore option was included. I got the same problem. System Restore appears on the screen but it says that there is a problem and it won't work. I think this is related to the Volume Shadow Copy feature, which was also removed. I am going to try this again with Volume Shadow enabled and will report back.
  7. To be honest, I dont remember removing System Restore when configuring vLite. Could this have been removed with some other option? Thanks
  8. Hi, I've created a vLite system, but I've just discovered that System Restore is not part of the installation. Is it possible to re-install System Restore after installing Vista ? Thanks
