  1. When I open a commant prompt and type ipconfig or some other command like that, it gives me the canned "Can't find it! lol" message that it gives for missing files. However, IPCONFIG.EXE is in my C:\Windows\System32\ directory. I went there myself However, I can see nothing wrong with my Path variable... Path=%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;D:\Program Files\WinSCP3\; PATHEXT=.COM;.EXE;.BAT;.CMD;.VBS;.VBE;.JS;.JSE;.WSF;.WSH SystemDrive=C: SystemRoot=C:\WINDOWS windir=C:\WINDOWS I get those from "set" in the command line. I also found a site that said to check if my Registry Key for the Path was the wrong data type. It wasn't. I'm fresh out of ideas. Anyone here have one? EDIT: Also, I'm on SP2, and the only thing that I would suspect *might* disable some function was MSFT's AntiSpyware thing. But that doesn't make much sense at all.
  2. My friend and I use our win2k3 installations as desktop environments. He really wants to get OpenCanvas (He does alot of drawing/sketches) Unfortunately, it refuses to install on our OS. It uses an EXE file, so I can't open it in Orca or anything. However, I found part of the code from the MSI section of the .exe http://kyoushu.com/setup_oC306PE.exe -- There's the exe (legal, don't worry) if you think you can help Name=INTL Version=1.00.000 DiskSpace=8000;DiskSpace requirement in KB [Startup] CmdLine= SuppressWrongOS=Y ScriptDriven=N ScriptVer=1.0.0.1 Product=openCanvas3.06E Plus PackageName=openCanvas3.06E Plus.msi MsiVersion=1.20.1827.0 EnableLangDlg=Y SuppressReboot=N PackageCompressed=Y DataCabInSetupEe=Y UI=1001 [SupportOS] Win95=1 Win98=1 WinME=1 WinNT4=1 [Win95] MajorVer=4 MinorVer=0 BuildNo=950 PlatformId=1 [Win98] MajorVer=4 MinorVer=10 BuildNo=1998 PlatformId=1 [WinME] MajorVer=4 MinorVer=90 BuildNo=3000 PlatformId=1 [WinNT4] MajorVer=4 MinorVer=0 BuildNo=1381 PlatformId=2 ServicePack=768 [openCanvas3.06E Plus.msi] Type=1 Location=CompressedMSI.Cab [Languages] count=1 default=409 key0=409 0x0409.ini I'm pretty sure that's where it's stopping us... But I already tried changing "SuppressWrongOS" to N and it didn't work... any other ideas?
  3. Actually, by complete chance, I managed to find something out: The ATI control panel Tabs DO APPEAR as long as I don't have the option "Extend my Desktop to this monitor" selected. I don't know why this matters, but it's happening. However, on Windows XP, I don't have this problem. I'll try uninstalling /reinstalling now. EDIT: Kenny - Yes, it is. However, it's fairly hard to see what's going on with your server without some sort of graphics card. And, graphics cards require Drivers. If the drivers don't work right, there is a problem.
  4. Has anyone been able to get the ATI control panel working? I have 2 monitors and a TV that I often need to switch between, and the best way to do this is with the ATI Control panel (Desktop Properties, Settings, Advanced shows extra tabs with the ATI logo, which make up the ATI conrol panel). However, I've downloaded their Catalyst package a number of times (not so recently, but I doubt it would matter), and it has never been able to install the control panel correctly. The drivers go in fine, and everything works, but the ATI tabs don't show up. Even the systray icon for the ATI control panel shows up, and will link me to the place where the ATI tabs normally are, but the tabs do not appear. Anyway, I need to know: Has anyone found a way to get the ATI control panel working on Windows 2003? Or, does anyone know of another way I could switch between video outputs on my Graphics card without rebooting with only X monitors plugged in?
  5. Any chance I could get information on these registrry hacks? I'm not associated with any business, and the NAV corporate editions practically require that you buy multi-user licenses, which are upwards of $200 (not in my budget).
  6. Norton antivirus 2001 (the home version...) doesn't want to install on Win2k3 for me, since it is a server OS. Does anyone know a way to get around this? Can I just change some environment variable? I really don't want to buy a special piece of antivirus software for Win2k3, especially since I'm NOT really using it commercially.
  7. Every few days I have to repair Windows 2003 Server Standard. It's quite an annoying problem. I know I have to do it after I start the computer, it loads Windows, and then there is an eternal black screen. On a somewhat unrelated note, this seems to have affected Alcohol 120% in that I can't set up a Virtual Drive, when I had one before the repair. Can anyone help me with this? I'm afraid to shut down.
