  1. unfortunately this is a limitation of RIS. The password must be sent in clear text. I don't believe this is a problem with PE images. So the solution is to put the password in clear text. If your worried about it use a script to change the password on first logon.
  2. Thanks for your reply. I also thought it should just work but in my case it does not. I have tried 3 times and each time the same thing happens. Right before the install goes to the Windows setup screens I get a screen that asks for a CD. At least the failure is consistent so this means my RIS setup environment is stable. Have you (or anyone else) made any changes in your DriverPacks ini or PRESETUP.CMD file to allow for RIS? I think this is where the problem lies I just don't know what needs to be changed. I could post what I am using so we could compare setups if this would be helpful. MSD_GUY
  3. Hey I am hoping to find out some detailed info on how to integrate DriverPacks 8.05 into my RIS install. I am using AutoImage 1.9.8 to create the RIS image and the DP's are being placed in the $OEM$\$1\ folder when I create the image. During the RIS setup however I get an error that the CD can not be found. Perhaps I have not done enough reading on this but I can't seem to figure out how or why this is happening. My best guess is I have to make some adjustment to one to the following files (or all). Can someone lend a hand or point me to the right forum topic? I suspect someone has this working and can provide the solution. PRESETUP.CMD txtsetup.sif *.sif file in the templates folder cmdlines.txt RunOnceEx.cmd I am not using RIPREP. I am installing an WinXP with SP3 (FLATFILE) and customizing this so it supports all of my Dell computers. This is the only way to do it. I have a working RIS image already using this configuration but without integrating the DriverPack. Instead I am using the OEMPnPDriversPath in my SIF file to intergrate the drivers. I'd like to use the DPs as this seems more efficient and adds even more hardware support. Thanks MSD_GUY
  4. You are the creator of NLite aren't you? The files is can't find are many of the files that where updated when slipstreaming the CD. It appears that slipstreaming files for CD creation is quite different than slipstreaming for RIS. It seems that RIS requires that certain files are UNCOMPRESSED and certain others are COMPRESSED. I am guessing the the files it's looking for need to be uncompressed during install and since they are not, windows RIS setup fails to find them. Do you have any experience with RIS or know someone that does? I'd like to get this working but can't find much info on this.
  5. At what point in the intergration are you inserting IE7? I put mine at the end and it works fine. This is the one I'm adding NR_IE7en_Addon_1.0.6a_alt.7z You can get it at the RMV site. Here's what my Hotfixes section looks like in my LASTSESSION.INI file [Hotfixes] C:\XPSlip\RVM\UpdatePack\RVMUpdatePack2.1.11.7z C:\XPSlip\WinXP Install when partitioned with WinPE 2.0 Hotfix\WindowsXP-KB931760-x86-ENU.exe C:\XPSlip\RVM\DX9\RVMAddonsDX9_1.4.7z C:\XPSlip\RVM\Addons\Kels_DirectX_CPL_addon_v9.0c.CAB C:\XPSlip\RVM\Addons\RVMAddonsWGAN_1.7.18.5a.7z C:\XPSlip\RVM\Addons\Boooggy_WMP11_Vanilla.7z C:\XPSlip\RVM\Addons\NR_IE7en_Addon_1.0.6a_alt.7z
  6. Hi Everyone, I'm new to posting in this community but I have been reading for awhile. Now....I need some help. Has anyone used NLite to create a slipstreamed flat file that then worked with RIS? I have a XP SP2 CD image that I slipstreamed (using NLite 1.3.5) with RVM hotfixes, DX9, WMP11, IE7 and drivers. The images works perfectly from a CD but when I "import" the image up to the RIS server and try to image a computer it fails. All the files are copied down to the computer ok using RIS but once it starts the Windows setup process it can't find some of the files. Has anyone else run into this? Anyone know of a workaround or fix? Perhaps I'm using the wrong "product" to work with RIS? Does anyone know of an application that will let me slipstream Hotfixes, DX9,WMP11, IE7 and my drivers into an updated flat file that will then work with RIS? I am working on updating my images for my corporation so time is important and finding a solution in paramount. Thanks MSD_GUY
