  1. Here is the problem. I have an Audigy sound card that was working fine. One fine morning, I awoke to find that it wasn't working. I looked in the device manager and there was a new entry for multimedia device with the dreaded exclamation point under it, and it was under "Other devices" I attempted to reload the sound card drivers (multiple times with multiple versions) and it said "No compatible device found". Attempted to use a SB Live 5.1 card with same problem. Have used driver cleaner to remove all creative driver files, and finally removed the card to see if it was the PCI slot. Then attempted to use the onboard sound with the AC97 drivers. (Yes I turned it back on in the BIOS). The realtek drivers seemed to load fine, have that device in the hardware profile, but it will not play through the speaker jack. (Also have changed speakers!) The funny thing is that MP3 files and some games (Company of heroes) will play through my USB headphones, but the Windows sounds will not work. So I thought maybe the DirectSound programs. Reloaded DirectX 9.0c with nothing new. Have checked for spyware, adware, virus', (you know, the typical, something is wrong..."It's a VIRUS!!!") with no joy on any of it. I have updated my motherboard chipset, all new drivers, archive drivers, original drivers. Other than that, the computer is working fine, I just wish I could hear something other than the case fans. As always, any help is appreciated! Thanks lakedog Enclosed is the everest summary ReportJulytxt.txt
