  1. Well, it seems I solved it just now. For some reason it boiled down to my registry tweaks alone. I was loading them via the cmdlines.txt and a batch file. I found that when I removed them the OS operated and installed MSI apps normally. When I put them back in the cmdlines file it acted up all over again. I then tried loading them one by one after the OS installed to see which caused the problem, but nothing went wrong. So I moved them to the runonce on first boot up and it now will install all the 3rd party apps correctly and add my tweaks as well. Not sure why this change fixed it, but it did. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, I'd love to hear them! For now I will leave them in the runonce. Thanks!
  2. I did try a new disc without this hotfix installed and it made no difference. I guess I will have to start by removing groups of hotfixes to see if I can narrow it down. Unless someone else out there may know what could be the exact cause? Thanks!
  3. Thanks for the tips! I have all the files and the registry exports now. I will let you know if this worked after I get a chance to build the CD and try in. Thanks again!
  4. That is the thing. I am not using any switches or anything to install the apps. When I try to start either the Symantec 10.2 or VMWare installs, I double click the setup.exe like I normally would, and then that MSIEXEC window pops up and the install quits. I have never had to use special command switches to install these apps before, I just always use the default setup program from the CD. Could this be caused by the slipstreaming of the new Windows 3.1 v2 installer? I have checked all of my registry twaeks that install and nothing in them does anything with the installer etc. Kind of at a loss as to why this is happening after I created the unattended install CD. Thanks!
  5. Hello, I have a collection of the LifeGlobe Fish & Shark screensavers that I would like to have install during the initial login. Does anyone know what the switches would be to have them install silently? And how would I include the serial number in either the install or as a registry edit? Thanks!
  6. Hello, I have completed my unattended XP Pro SP2 install CD, and the install works perfectly. The problem I am having now is when I try to install other programs I am getting a MSIEXEC error. This happens when trying to Install Symantec 10.2 and the VMWare tools as well. I get the following. Does anyone have any suggestions? I do have some registry tweaks installed, but I am not sure if this is the problem or the silent install of the windows installer. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
  7. What is the best way to install this hotfix during an unattended install? I have tried installing it in the SVCPACK portion of the setup, but a dialog box always comes up that requires user interaction. I have it in my svcpack.ini file as KB905474.exe /q Is this the correct switch for it? Is there any way to install it and not have the dialog box? If not then I wonder if it would be better to have it install under the runonce as the last item. I have researched on this most of the day and the answers everyone give are all over the place. Any assitance is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  8. Any suggestions from anyone?
  9. Hello all, got my unattended install CD working great, thanks to all the tutorials and users on here. The one last buggy thing I am hoping there is a fix for is during the hotfix install portion of the CD. When the install gets to 13min left, the hotfixes I integrated start installing, but the WGA Notification and the GDI+ Detection tools both require user interaction to continue the setup. Is there a way around this? I found this bit of registry code for the WGA: I am not sure how to integrate it into the registry before it executes the wga hotfix. Is this correct and are there any suggestions? Thanks!
  10. Hello all, I am new to all of this hotfix patching etc, and so far I have had pretty good luck getting my XP disc running. I am stumped right now though. I need to have the installation copy a folder called install and all of it's files to the root of the system drive during the install. I have tried making the $OEM$ folder with the $1 subfolder and a subfolder in there called Install and the files are under that. When the install completes however, the install directory never gets copied to the hard drive. I have tried placing the $OEM$ folder in the i386 folder and in the root of the CD with no luck. Am I missing something? I have some addons like IE7 etc that I want installed when the user logs in for the first time. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks for reading!
