  1. Thanks kelsenellenelvian! (now that I can simply copy & paste your name ). I think right now I have all I need to accomplish the task. I will not hesitate to ask for more assistance. Thanks for your kind offer to help. I will remember to ask for your help along the way.
  2. Thanks! That's almost everything I need there. One more question: What If I already have an unattended Win XP SP2 Installation CD/DVD ready under hand and want to use that as a starting point to make my own? Can that CD/DVD be of any help at any stage or should I start my own project from scratch? The DVD I have has all the hotfixes/security patches, IE7, WMP etc. Thanks for the great help guys.
  3. Thanks for the hand guys. Now I don't have to worry about the SP2 part anymore since it's part of the core source CD. However, I still have a problem with the hotfixes. I did as submix8c said and did a search for the following, one at a time (see below) "IUHIST*CATALOG.XML" "IUHIST" "CATALOG.XML" The only search result I got was a file called "CATALOG.XML" that belongs to office 2007. Also, I tried windows update and that seemed too complicated. (I tried both possible methods, First I tried Help and support center/Windows update then tried Microsoft website/windows security & updates ) and both were not useful in my case, explained below: 1- H&SC / Windows update yielded the following result: You have not yet installed updates from this website or by turning on automatic updating on your computer. What does that really mean? 2- On Microsoft's website I couldn't figure out what's the right updates to download. There are just too many. the_guy has posted a list of the critical hotfixes for Win XP in his post HOTFIXES: Win2000 SP4, WinXP SP2 and Win2003 SP2, Under New Management!. Can I use those hotfixes? Are those (ALL) the hotfixes that I need or do I have to get other hofixes from elsewhere? I hope my questions are clear enough for you guys and thank you in advance.
  4. Hi All I have not made a search on this topic before posting so I apologize if I'm repeating someone's post. I have read the information on how to make an unattended Win XP installation CD but couldn't find an answer to my question which is: (Can I use my Windows operating system as a source for SP2 and all the hotfixes that I need in order to make an unattended windows install CD ?) I'm running Windows XP SP2 on my PC with all the hotfixes installed through automatic windows update. My original XP installation CD came with SP2 already embedded so I didn't have to download and install SP2 manually. My Windows is updating itself regularly so I think I should be able to find all the necessary hotfixes already gathered in one place for me just to pick up (or so I think). Can this be done? Thanks
