  1. Thanks for your response Tri.... Device manager was showing that the driver wasnt installed correctly, but the hardware wizard would not install the driver even when pointed directly at it. however, i have just managed to resolve the issue http://geekswithblogs.net/lorint/archive/2...6/11/81540.aspx in case anyone else comes across the issue. it has taken me hours to resolve it, so hopefully this will save someone else heartache.
  2. Tearing my hair out here, so any help on solving this matter will be greatly appreciated. Just finished reformatting my cousins laptop, and everything went well, until i got round to installing the audio driver. it is showing up in programs, and to all intents and purposes appears to be installed, but in the sounds and audio devices properties it shows no audio device, and obviously there is no sound. i Have installed the driver from the original disk that came bundled, and edited the registry. i then installed the driver from the laptop manufacturers w/site with the same result, and finally i have tried the driver downloaded from the realtek w/site, again to no avail. i have tried to install then through device manager, and also just by clicking the .exe, the results are the same everytime, it shows up in programs, but there is no sound. i have cleaned the leftover files between trying each install to the best of my ability. i cant help but think i have overlooked something, and any suggestions are greatly welcomed. unless its to reformat again lol Spec: Medion MIM2230 Notebook Windows XP SP3 Intel Celeron CPU 410@ 1.46ghZ 512MB RAM On Board Graphics
