  1. Um, **** it after installing SP1 it Word crashes every time when closing, this is logged in event viewer, same every time:

    Faulting application winword.exe, version 12.0.6211.1000, stamp 46d4a7df, faulting module hpz3r5ha.dll, version 61.71.244.0, stamp 45f91d42, debug? 0, fault address 0x000467e8.

Anyone else having this problem after installing SP1? Seems to be because of hp printer and see I am not alone:

    Update:

Comodo Anti-Viruspyware (CAVS) is causing the crash... :(

Update 2: No its not, that was something else, still crashing... need a new driver but hp tech support sucks

  2. Open regedit and check permissions on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SCardSvr .

What functionality do you loose when it is deleted?
    Not a clue!
Just disable those that you don't use. There may come a day when you need certain functionality and can't use it.
Thats what I would recommand, but that is not what the OP asked for...
  3. It will turn off or restart after it has logged off but basically i have to do it all twice.
Do you mean you have to manually click shutdown on the logon screen for it to now shutdown?

Make sure there is nothing weird in:

    %systemroot%\System32\GroupPolicy\Machine\Scripts\Shutdown

I think this might be your problem:

    See this too:

Check to make sure you do not have this one enabled:

  4. There is no must RTM date at the moment for either. It already got pushed back twice. ;)

Though at the moment the official word on Windows Vista SP1 RTM is first quarter of 2008.

While Windows XP SP3 RTM is still slatted for the first half of 2008.

  5. ..i know mines clears automatically i think but if i want to clear it manually, how can this be done ?...
Just click start then shutdown and click cancel. Now the start run menu is clean. :)
How do you make yours clear automatically?
    Simply import:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

;Clean Recent Docs Histroy On LogOut

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer]

    "ClearRecentDocsOnExit"=dword:00000001

    "NoRecentDocsHistory"=dword:00000001

  6. Most likely he simply converted Windows Server 2003 to look and behavior like Windows XP. Something like: http://win2k3.msfn.org/

Anyhow, if you want real proof it can't be done read up on MSDN or simply ask Microsoft in the public newsgroups. WARNING: You might get cursed at pretty badly. lol

  7. 1.77 GB download. Ouch!

I'll pass and wait for the real deal.

    Bio Shock: 6.11 GB

Call of Duty 4: 6.32 GB

Enemy Territory - QUAKE Wars: 5.58 GB

So 1.77 GB is nothing... Yes I know it's a demo, but still..

  8. Windows XP SP3 Beta and Windows Vista SP1 Beta are both currently being tested by technical beta testers at http://connect.microsoft.com/ as well by TAP (Technology Adoption Program) members; among many others.

I'm in both programs and if you want proof both programs are on going just ask Microsoft in the public news groups. That is if your a paranoid freak who does not believe main stream media or sites like neowin.net. Look around would you!

Both are set to be released in Q1 2008.
