I am having exactly the same problem! Have created a setup disc using 64 bit home premium which installs silenlty from start to finish but trying to install applications causes an error which shuts down the computer. I am using the methods outlined in firegeier's Vista unattended guide.
Can anybody help?

To install Nero 7 Premium silently do the following:
First edit conf.txt found in "nero\Nero 7 Premium\Redist\Config"
INCEXCFTR (B035464E) (NeroStartSmart) NeroStartSmart EXCLUDE
INCEXCFTR (BCAFF604) (Actions) NeroBurningRom INCLUDE
INCEXCFTR (2FF8B816) (Features) NeroHome EXCLUDE
INCEXCFTR (57D52359) (Features) NeroVision INCLUDE

Change the text to INCLUDE or EXCLUDE depending on whether you want a feature installed or not.
First make sure that hidden files are shown
Control Panel-->Folder Options-->View-->Show hidden files and folders.
Next start the Nero 7 Premium Installation wizard.
Now locate the following folder
Enter %Temp% in the Explorer address bar (Thanks to BoardBabe for pointing this out )
Copy the following 2 files: 16e16cf.msi and 16e16do.mst to the Nero 7 Premium folder that also contains Cab,Redist,setup folders and a number of 1###.mst files.
(NOTE: the filenames in red will be generated at random and will be different from that shown here).
For the serial number add this to the registry first
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ahead\Installation\Families\Nero 7\Info]
"Serial7_1128629792"="*xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx"

Program Files(x86) is for 32 bit apps that get emulated as 64 bit apps and the other Program Files folder is for native 64 bit apps. It's done so that all 32 bit apps can still be run.

Using winnt.sif with the 32 bit version of Windows it is possible to use
[unattended]
UnattendMode=FullUnattended
OemSkipEula=Yes
OemPreinstall=Yes
TargetPath=\WINDOWS
UnattendSwitch=Yes
WaitForReboot = No
DriverSigningPolicy = ignore
NonDriverSigningPolicy = ignore
ProgramFilesDir = "D:\Program Files"
to change the Program Files Directory to partition D. There is no mention of this switch in the 64 bit version for winnt.sif.
Is there a way of changing the registry entries from "ProgramFilesDir=C:\Program Files" to "ProgramFilesDir=D:\Program Files" before runonceex runs to install apps so they go to the D:\ partition?
All attempts at getting regedit to add registry entries with updated drive letters has failed to make any difference so far. I don't know at what point in an unattended install to do it at.

Download the Windows (Offline Installation) version of Java from
http://java.com/en/download/windows_xpi.jsp
start the installation as usual. Accept the licence agreement and then look for the following files at
C:\Documents and Settings\ <Your User name will be here> \Local Settings\Application Data\{3248F0A6-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0150050} (these numbers and letters are purely random so will be anything).
Note: The Application Data folder is hidden unless you use Control Panel-->Folder Options-->View-->Show hidden folders and files)
In this folder will be two files called 1033.MST and J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 5.msi
Save these files to another folder in your unattended setup. Start the installation using
c:\folder name\J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 5.msi /qb

Open config.ini with Wordpad at the top of the file is this:
[General]
; Run Mode values:
; Normal - Shows all dialogs. Requires user input.
; Auto - Shows some dialogs, but none requiring user input. It will
; automatically install the product using default values.
; Silent - Show no dialogs at all. It will install product using default
; values.
Run Mode=Normal
Just change Run Mode=Normal to Run Mode=Silent and save the file. Job done.

No errors are reported. Running Windows Update after installation all these updates are shown has ready to be installed.
Does this mean the updates have not integrated or do I need to somehow register the updates has already being installed? Hopefully somebody can help me out with this

Just installed Shockwave silently using mm_fl_sw_installer.msi /quiet /passive
with Firefox. Worked no problem

Try this MCE powertoy. It has an option to set how many seconds rewind and fast forward work at.

There is a guide here to create a bootable CD...
http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=249
there's a link to the boot sector image file you will need as well,
it uses Nero to create the disc which may be easier to use than the app you
are currently using

Get boot sector file from here...
http://www.tacktech.com/pub/microsoft/boot...s/bootfiles.zip
You might find this interesting as well...

Wolluf, has you will now know the 32 bit method for installing SATA/RAID drives doesn't work. Look at the (6) posts here and hopefully you will find a solution that works. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=47053. But be warned you will find it almost impossible to get 64 bit drivers for other devices!

Had the same problem with a VIA SATA controller not working from boot CD.
Thanks to you finally got the answer to make it work
Copied your post with changes needed for the VIA controller
First you can't use $OEM$\TEXTMODE [massstoragedrivers]/[oembootfiles] for a
CD-boot style installation.
What will work is to slipstream the drivers and to modify some registry hives.
But this method is an unsupported hack. It will be better to use WINPE.
Here are a short description:
Edit txtsetup.sif to add entries under the following headings...
[sourceDisksFiles]
viamrx64.sys = 1,,,,,,5_,4,1,,,1,4
viamrx64.inf = 1,,,,,,,20,0,0
viamrx64.cat = 1,,,,,,,,3,3
[HardwareIdsDatabase]
PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3149 = "viamrx64"
[sCSI.Load]
viamrx64 = viamrx64.sys,4
[sCSI]
viamrx64 = "VIA VT8237/6421/6410 SATA RAID Controller(SRV2003/XP-x64)"
Copy the 3 files below to the \$OEM$\TEXTMODE and \$OEM$\PnPdrvrs and AMD64 directorys.
viamrx64.sys
viamrx64.inf
viamrx64.cat
Modify <amd64>\setupreg.hiv using regedit then Load Hive.
(Enter HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE for key value)
Click on +HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then +ControlSet001 then +Services
Right click Services and click on New--Key. Enter viamrx64 as a new key name.
Right click viamrx64 and click on New--Key. Enter 'Parameters' as a new key name.
Right click on Parameters and click on New--Key. Enter 'PnPInterface' as a new key name.
Right click on PnPInterface and click on New--Dword value. Enter '5' as the value.
The registry will now have the following added...
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlSet001\Services\viamrx64]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlSet001\Services\viamrx64\Parameters]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlSet001\Services\viamrx64\Parameters\PnPInterface]
"5"=dword:00000001
Add entries for the mini-port driver to <amd64>\HIVESYS.INF.
If not you will get a BSOD STOP 0x/B after textmode setup has completed
and when attempting to boot into GUI mode setup for the first time.
add the two entries *above* the line:
HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\adpu160m","ErrorControl",0x00010003,1
...
HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ACPIEC","Type",0x00010001,1
HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\viamrx64\Parameters",,0x00000012
HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\viamrx64\Parameters\PnpInterface","5",0x00010003,1
HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\adpu160m","ErrorControl",0x00010003,1
HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\adpu160m","Group",0x00000002,"SCSI miniport"

I have added a Silicon Image SATA driver to my windows installation that gets loaded from the CD and now do not have to keep pressing F6 to load from a floppy disc. Is it not possible to add a monitor driver in the same way?
0 -
I should have made it clearer that I have the path to the .INF file for my monitor defined in winnt.sif but doing this now causes the installation to stop with a dialog box asking me for the path to the monitor driver. Even if I enter the path to the Sony .INF file the monitor is still installed has a plug and play monitor!
I know it doesn't make the world of difference to the final installation but has I have a driver for the Sony monitor I just wanted to have it installed automatically.
