I just noted autopacher is up and running again and aupup. Good I thought. So proceeded and downloaded. I wondered if there was a catch.? There sure was according to a scan with Zone Alarm and came up with report. Trojan - Dropper Win 32. I downloade 3 files the autpatcher website and all contained trojans<br />So I would be wary about downloading from there. I couldnt see any contact details there so thought I would mention it here as would hate others to get caught out.

<br /><br /><br />Hi im not much of a expert and I created a earlier version of nlite for XP Pro and just added the floppy disc when asked for when install Windows. Hit the F6 key when it tells you and worked fine for me. I assume your motherboard has been set up for SATA drives in the BIOS.? If I didnt hit the F6 key it wouldnt find the HDD. I did many tests on this with my first encounter with a SATA drive. The above method was reliable enough for me so never incorporated the SATA disk when making Nlite

To me I cant understand why people are rushing and installing this Service Pack 3. If you wait for a while maybe SP 3 A? might come out.? So if you use it and get problems with NLite rebooting etc dont go blaming NLite.

Ive got a multimedia keyboard here and it works fine. Only bugbear I find with a lot of these recent keyboard is when installing Win XP to a SATA HDD the F6 key never works to install driver disc. So have to revert to old basic keyboard for this. I deleted the Language folder completely from downloaded XP on HDD and saved about 99 megs from memory. Sorry I cant help more with your problem. Maybe someone could help if you post your last session.?

Correct me if im wrong but I removed the Language folder out of the downloaded XP cd folder and saved about 99 megs before using Nlite. And English works fine.

He's not trying to install nLite, he is trying to install XP made with nLite 1.4 final over an XP made with 1.4beta (and thus with the SFC bug). I'd say no. Thanks for the info appreciated. I will wait to see if I get any more replies first and then do a few tests if I dont have a majority decision on which is the best method. Maybe I could experiment on a spare HDD I have in another computer. Strange part is I dont get any SFC errors at all. It will probably be a few weeks before I get time to do it at moment.

Hi Sorry as I think this question may have come up before but did a search but cant find it. Thanks for the great product Nuhi. I installed the earlier Nlite 1.4 beta and it works fine except it say that incompatable files are used. [And to use the SP2 disc.] I used the Ryans update pack. Didnt use SP2 disc to update as original Win XP Pro had SP2 combined and used this. So basically can I update this earlier version to 1.4 Final without reformatting hard drive etc.? Maybe using recovery Consule would that work.? Or am I just a bit hopefull.? Also Nuhis site to download Nlite from has a problem needing a referer which I used and cant get it to work so I went to http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enh...nts/nLite.shtml and downloaded without a hitch. Is the version here the latest final as I downloaded mine from here about 2 weeks ago. So any answers appreciated.

Yes mate. You can use Nero for your burning as N Lite saves as ISO file and you can burn from that.

I followed nLite's development about a year ago and back then I was stuck with an odd problem - nLite would freeze while scanning the WinXP folder. it would find the version, language, service pack, etc. just fine, but it stopped responding while calculating size. Dont understand why you are having freezing problems as I have tried latest version out using Windows XP Pro SP2 CD also and adding hotfixes and dont have this problem. Maybe you are removing to many components.? I just remove Language folder along with Outlook Express and Internet Explorer which improves security plus a few other basic tweaks and able to test 3 Cds with latest version. Only thing I did notice when installing Win Xp it gives a black flicker on screen at 13 minute install period. Otherwise installs fine.

Hi There. Here is what I did using 1.4 version. I removed the langauge folder about 99 megs and used Ryans update Pack. Didnt go overboard removing to many things when tweaking. It burned CD fine. I didnt worry about adding serial number and skipped time zone etc as going to put in another computer. I already had Cd with SP2 added so didnt need to add that, So unsure why you had install problem. The only problem I noted was when installing to computer at the 13 minute interval there was a couple of flickers on screen Black streaks but it installed in about 15-20 minutes. When installed it said I was using a incompatable update pack. But I ignored that. Only other thing it said was USB wasnt 2.0 but as far as I could tell USB 2 is working fine as detects usb ports etc. I assume at this stage everything else is working ok. Tried to add add driver for A Bit motherboard for USB 2 and said I needed to install SP1. Yet CD is updated to SP2. Maybe the Xables Light post is creating a problem. ? Would be curious if you tried the Ryans update pack instead and see what results you had.

My view is N Lite creates a ISO file. But no burning takes place until you use Nero or another burning application.

Hi I had a simular problem on my Abit AV8 Board when installing windows on a Sata drive it wouldnt find the driver discs. Pushing F6 didnt do anything when installing. After many hours of trying again and again it turned out this new keyboard I was using wouldnt recognise F6 in Dos mode. I checked the configaration of it and it was certinaly configured correctly. You didnt say how you copied the files over from one hard drive to the other which could be the fault. I tried Nlite a couple of times and did work but couldnt get the updates to install. Enquired on this forum about it but got no takers how to solve problem. So hope you have some luck in a remedy.

this Im a newbie also. Sounds like you and me both have something in common like not figuring it out. But cant get a answer about the hotfix intergration as yet. I tried version 1.3 and the latest beta version with same results in both. Download latest version from Majorgeeks as less problem downloading here. [To much mucking around to to be able to get easy download from nlite site even when following all information regarding referals etc etc] As when slipstreaming it says right click for more options but when I do that nothing happens. I have read all the guides I can find but made no sense out of it. I wonder do you get the screen as shown in URL. Hotfix adding Sorry new to forum and havent got much luck out of N lite. Tried both 1.3 and the latest 1.4 version and same problem with both. Tried downloading from Nuhi's site the latest version and wouldnt allow me as using Firefox 2. tried all suggestions and none worked. So hoped over to Majorgeeks and downloaded without any problems. Now what am I doing wrong with Nlite. I tried Win XP and added SP2 and tried to add hotfixes KB files and for some reason cannot get them to add as appear in Picture on part 2 showing Hotfixes. The box shown doesnt contain hotfix numbers as shown in Hotfix and update Packs. Also doesnt show more info double click doesnt work on both versions. Also tried using a Copy of Win Xp where SP2 already added and didnt add this as already had that and tried to add hotfixes etc.Unsure if idea would work [Tried this before and got CD to work but of course had no hotfixes added. But netherless it worked ok. Tried various methods for copying hotfixes etc but none appeared conclusive. I have read the download guide and maybe of missed out on somthing ?. I also have Netframework2 installed. The info about hotfixes seems at bit poor as searched the net about correct way of copying these but havent comeup with anything conclusive. Info very sketchy and vague. Hoping some Geneous will come up with a solution.

Can some one advise me please if its possible to copy hotfixes off another computer and save to a file in present computer then copy to Nlite. As tried this without success. Maybe I copied them wrong.? Anyway cant even get present hotfixes in working windows folder to copy to Nlite. But been to Nlite website and info is very vague about this. So did burn a Cd without hotfixes and booted nice and fast by removing Internet Explorer. Also tried using Unattended Windows Guide. But hotfixes seem to be a subject it avoids going into great detail. When looking for hotfixes using Nlite and get to page where it says Hotfix and Update pack Part 2 the hotfixes never show up as as shown on page. Also I didnt note whether you have to individually install each hot fix or is there a way of doing the whole lot together. I have a CD with Service pack 2 already installed which is what I used so didnt need the SP2 update and just looked for hotfixes is where the problem started. Using Nlite 1.3

Regarding adding Hotfixes Have installed Net framework 2 and Nlite Regarding the hotfix addition I tried all various ways but cant find a easy way to add Where it says Hotfix addons and update patches. Then click insert. Choose a hotfix or addon or a ... Did this but cant seemed to find a way to attach these hotfix KB files. if you click on the file which is a exe file it then says something else update from memory which doesnt end up looking like the page shown on manual where hotfixes are all shown up as heaps of KB files. Are you saying you have to individually add each hotfix.? One other though crossed my mind is the Win XP disc im using appears to have SP2 already on it so thought didnt need to add a extra SP2 disc which I also have. Im just trying to add the hotfixes and chuck out Internet Explorer and Msn and Outlook etc as not needed or liked as I use Mozilla and Thunderbird. Maybe the disc im using with SP2 is causing the problems. Although I originaly thought it didnt have SP2 on it? But Nlite says it has SP2 on it. Just a thought.? Hope that shed some light on the subject I did eventually make a CD and appears to want to boot but did not test it further. It asked to press F6 key etc so didnt go any further on testing. Thanks
