  1. In my device manager, I notice that my driver dll files are (by and large) in the system32 folder on my machine, and one or two are in the system32\drivers folder. So my question is: Using the winnt.sif method, the bulk of the driver files will get copied to the system32 folder. For dll files that should be in the system32\drivers folder, could/should I copy these into the $OEM$\$$\drivers folder? If not, how do I get the unattended install to put the right dll files into the system32\drivers folder? Thanks!
  2. Hi. I've done a silent install with AVG free edition using the following: start /wait AVG.exe /HIDE /DONT_START_APPS /NO_WELCOME /NO_AVGW_STARTUP /QUIT_IF_INSTALLED Thing is, I have to download the updates separately, and then manually install them. Can the updates be installed as part of the silent install? If so, how? Thanks.

    [SCSI]

Dunno if I'm just stupid, but where the value in the raid/sata part of the unattended guide sets the [sCSI] value at: [sCSI] si3112 = "Silicon Image SiI 3112 SATALink Controller" ...the nearest thing I could find in the txtsetup.oem file was: VIARAID_MULTIPLE_XP = "VIA RAID Controller(Windows XP)". So, if I've been referring to "viamraid.sys", can I state: viamraid = "VIA RAID Controller(Windows XP)"? I've been up and down the .oem file and I can't see anything about viamraid = "whatever". What to do? All help appreciated. Thanks.
  6. In the Unattended Guide, under the Raid/Sata section, it gives the following values under the heading [sourceDisksFiles]: si3112.sys = 1,,,,,,3_,4,1 Can I leave them as they are for my Viamraid.sys file, and if not, is there any simple way to figure out what they should be? Thanks.
  7. I've a Radeon 9200se graphics card, and in trying to determine which driver files need to be copied, I hit a wall when exploring the disc that came with the card. I've attached the tree structure of the disc for info purposes, and what I'm wondering is which folder / level to take the driver files from. There are driver files at many different levels, including the root level, and at Radeon and Radeon2 levels. I was considering copying the files in the Radeon folder, including the sub-folder "B_09593" and pasting them into the Driver folder under $1. Is that right? Btw, I see a WDM folder in some of the driver discs I have. What are they for? Thanks in advance for any help. Anyway, here's the structure of the Radeon disc... H:. +---DX81 +---DX9 +---INIFILES +---RADEON |.....+---BIN |.....+---DOC |...|.......+---MMCENTER |...|.......\---RADEON |....+---INSTALL |...|.....+---BIN |...|.....+---CPANEL |...|.....+---DRIVER |...|...|......+---2KXP_INF |...|...|...|........\---B_09593 |...|...|.......\---9X_INF |...|...|............\---B_09593 |...|.....+---DX9 |...|.....+---HVISION |...|.....\---WDM |...|..........+---WDM_2K |...|..........+---WDM_9X |...|..........\---WDM_XP +---RADEON2 ......+---BIN ......+---CPANEL ......+---DRIVER ....|......+---2KXP_INF ....|...|........\---B_09593 ....|......\---9X_INF ....|............\---B_09593 ......+---DX9 ......+---HVISION ......\---WDM ...........+---WDM_2K ...........+---WDM_9X ...........\---WDM_XP
  8. I'm new-ish to this having read the guides here at msfn, and a guide from Overclockers.com, I'm unsure about adding the driver files to the $OEM$\$1\Drivers folder. I've added inf files for my Sata, and it worked before for me, but I wonder whether it would do any harm, good, or make any difference if I added the other files from the cd, i.e. sys, cat, and dll files. Also, the support discs I got with the motherboard don't have drivers for the Athlon xp chip, and even the AMD website suggested no updates and no particular drivers were suitable for me to download. So in the folder drivers/000_chipset, can I just leave it blank, or leave it out all together? Thanks a mill.

    Which partition?

Only had the question posted, when I happened up the answer elsewhere! Thanks anyway for the pointer. Btw, what I didn't know was that the install will ask you where to load windows (i.e. what partition), and after that, it becomes unattended. Thanks again!

    Which partition?

Hi. I've created an Unattended Install ISO using nlite, but at no point did I see any indication of which partition, or even which drive the unattended install would load XP onto. Can someone tell me how to specify this? I don't want to overwrite the wrong partition. Thanks!
  11. Hi. I've a few questions on downloading, saving, and slipstreaming the XP updates. All help is appreciated... Firstly, can somebody tell me how to save the update files that the XP Update Manager downloads on your behalf? i.e. when you accept to download updates, where are they saved to? Secondly, I checked my update.log and it had downloaded different types of files in the past, e.g. loads of psf files, loads of cab files, and a good few .exe files. Which files will I slipstream? I get the impression that it's only the .exe files that get slip streamed, so what about all the other files? In the beginners guide, the batch file provided would seem to deal only with .exe files Thirdly, if they're already downloaded and installed, are the files needed for integration still on the hardrive somewhere, or are they removed after installation? Many thanks, Anlaoch
