  1. Thx for the tip. Haven't been here for a while and I've forgot how much MSFN is changing.
  2. I've received a laptop with Vista on the hard drive in the first partition. I want to install Windows XP on the second partition, and I don't mind that the Vista partition will be unusable during this time. The problem is that the laptop doesn't have a CDROM, and I don't have an external one. I can use a memory stick or LAN. How can I install windows XP to the second partition and make it the active one? Thx.
  3. Some of the emails I receive are HTML emails with images embedded on them. When I'm connected I can of course see the images with no problem. I'm looking to a solution that will "cache" this images on my computer so I can view this email even If I'm not connected. Anyone has an idea how to do this? I haven't found anything in Outlook 2007 that can save the images for me.
  4. That's the problem. After M$ made the fax program default in Windows XP, the market of developers for small and convenient fax freeware's has disappeared. What's left now is bloated programs that are targeted for businesses that the built in Windows XP fax was enough powerful for them.
  5. I was very disappointed to find out that my Vista Home Premium doesn't include the Fax & Scanning software that was highly talked about. Does anyone know a good and small Fax program that is compatible with Vista? freeware of course will be preferable. Thx
  6. I've got a desktop computer and a laptop (LG LS50). I thought about making an adhoc network and bought an EDIMAX EW7317Ug wireless USB adapter which is connected to the desktop computer. Now I've got 2 problems: 1. The laptop loses signals at a very short distance, and I can't set WEP on the network. 2. My second question is: in the utility that came with the adapter there is an option to make the adapter function like an access point? Is this recommended and better than adhoc? If so, I can't seem to set the adapter to constantly function as an AP, since with every restart it turn back to station mode. How can this be fixed? Any thoughts, ideas would be welcome.
  7. Hi there, A friend of mine is running a computer with Windows XP SP2. Yesterday is house had an electricity failure and after that he can't login to his computer. XP boot up, displays the users list, he clicks on the users and the screen goes blank. Same in safe mode. Anyone got any ideas were to start? I'm think about doing a repair install but only as a last resort 'cause when M$ is fixing things who knows what will come out of it.
  8. A simple search would have solved your problem: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=22250
  9. Works like a charm ! done a complete install, no problems in windows update.
  10. Well, I'll give it a try! destroying Windows sounds fun !!
  11. Tried all and no luck. What is exactly the process of using WinPE. I've got BartPE? is it good enough? Can I Delete the "System Volume Infomrmation" folder?
  12. I've got some system restore information inside its directory on one of my drives. Since the service is disabled on my machine now, I assume its some leftovers from previous installations. I tried to erase them and I can't. Tried to enable and disable the service (which usually deletes it) and no luck. Since it's a system directory I can't erase that from there either. Is there any trick or tool to erase these points??
  13. I don't know if that's connected but you are missing some of the updates in SVC-HF1 for example. havne't check the rest of the directories.
