  1. ehh..i can't open task manager. cuz when i Ctrl+Alt+del it won't response also.
  2. yes...it's me again...sorry to bother everyone with my endless questions but um..i've been having this for a few times now. Where i click Shut down, then windows doesn't response. However, everytime it can successfully shut down after freezing for like 10-20mins. But last night was unusual.. Before i went to sleep, i clicked shut off, No response..>.>...so i turned off the monitor and went to sleep. At mid night, around 2AM, i woke up, and i saw my computer tower still running... I was like WTH? i turned on the monitor...and i saw the computer froze there at my desktop..... nothing has been changed for over 4 hrs. I clicked logoff, no response, i clicked sleep, no response, i clicked shut down, no response. (NOTE: this is for logging off, going to sleep, shutting down only, i can open programs normally). So i have no choice but to push the power button on the tower and shut the computer off....but this isnt normal is it? This doesn't happen on XP, even if it does, after 3 mins max it starts to shut off. But this happened over 10 times on my new computer that i have been only using for 2 and half week. So um....what can seem to be the problem?
  3. umm....actually its 32bit, but the signature doesnt have the vista x32 thing....and yes in US (btw..not sure if x86= 32 bit so...) Nope, not yet installed SP1 It's preloaded on the computer Hmm..not sure...it all came preloaded. yes, this is the only place im experiencing connectivity issues i checked, zonealarm is not blocking it..so idk wat other program is blocking it
  4. oh man..sucks for you...i was just gonna install SP1..but i guess ill chill on that for a little longer..
  5. My computer is supposed to be a TV desktop, and it came with a remote. But today when i tried to open it, it told me that i have to set it up first. So i did and went to TV set up. However....the screen just stuck at " DOWNLOADING TV SETUP OPTIONS" and stopped moving at the first bar. i have allowed it on my firewall...wonder what the problem can be... anyway..here is the SS
  6. but then the red safety X thing always pop up in the tray bar if i turn UAC off.
  7. From the parameters referenced, it looks like a kernel-mode driver tried to write to an invalid memory address location, and that's obviously a no-no. Without looking at the dump file itself in a debugger I can't tell you more, but the initial indication is a driver failure. Since you were doing a virus scan at the time, you would have virus filter drivers and your disk drivers actively in use - I'd start with the virus driver and get an update from the vendor, if one exists. i was using AVG to scan for virus, and what do you mean by virus driver? and what should i do with the huge dump file..? Are you using the latest version of the product and it's supporting files from Grisoft? What I'm suggesting is that you contact them (maybe an email to their support email address or something), or search for a newer version and update. Most virus scanning applications use a driver - either loaded in kernel or hooked into certain APIs from user-mode - to scan. I am using the latest version of the product that is available. somebody told me to use a debugg tool from windows to see the inside of the dump...well i did what he said and this come out. ( hope this will make it easier to see the problem, but he didn't know where the problem is...) PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (50) Invalid system memory was referenced. 9. I was just running a virus scan, and i got a blue screen of death out of nowhere. It also saved a super big DMP file on my system...325MB o.O Biggest one i ever saw..anyways...here is the info on the event log: - System - Provider [ Name] Microsoft-Windows-WER-SystemErrorReporting [ Guid] {ABCE23E7-DE45-4366-8631-84FA6C525952} [ EventSourceName] BugCheck - EventID 1001 [ Qualifiers] 16384 Version 0 Level 4 Task 0 Opcode 0 Keywords 0x80000000000000 - TimeCreated [ SystemTime] 2008-03-27T19:25:28.000Z EventRecordID 7215 Correlation - Execution [ ProcessID] 0 [ ThreadID] 0 Channel System Computer Kevin-PC Security - EventData param1 0x00000050 (0xbefd8000, 0x00000001, 0x81c835f3, 0x00000000) param2 C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP So what can seem to be the problem of this BOD? did i do something wrong? and why is the DMP file so big? They were like 1 or 2MB big on my XP laptop....
  10. I'm just wondering if there is a way to make UAC(user account control) remember your settings for a certain program. because some of my programs run on start up, AND THEY ARE SAFE! but the UAC keeps popping out the alert of saying this program wants to run on your computer and need my permission to continue. It really gets annoying and i can't find a way for it to remember my settings like a firewall. the same thing goes with some online games...i wonder why>.> but it really slow the computer down by a lot. I know turning UAC off can solve the problem, but now instead of the program alert, i got a windows security alert..and the red X pop up every time i start windows...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. So is there a way to fix this thing? if there is let me know pls!
  11. How do you stop windows defender from showing " Windows have blocked some start up programs" pop up every time you start windows? I don't see an option on how to remove the pop up thing other than turning windows defender off. I mean it's not a big problem but it gets very annoying after a while.
  12. uhh..i just got this computer yesterday...and today when i'm running anti spyware...something went wrong.. it says's ctfmon.exe is inflected. i know this is a system file..but i dunno what it does. and um...somehow it says c;\recycled\ctfmon.exe...hmm and it also have the samething in disc D and E. However the ones in disc D and E can't be removed. But i thought its supposed to be in the windows folder..isnt it? anyway..here are the SS and AVG free antivirus says the samething... and also..what's the auto run thing about? it's got one in every disc just like the ctfmon thing... and can't be healed... help fast pls
  13. Hi guys, i really need your help. this happened about 2 days ago, it's pretty random I'd say.... Just all of the sudden i feel a lag when i logon game, and that day's connection was pretty crappy. then it just never stopped from that point on. Here are some facts: 1. This never happened to me before. 2. I use verizon DSL, and i contacted verizon, they said they did not find any problem on their side, but for some strange reason all my 3 computers connected to the network are all experiencing slow internet speed. 3. I'm using a HP labtop, Dell desktop, and an old IBM labtop 4. my speed was supposed to be 768 Kbps. But i run a test as the verizon people showed me, my speed was only around 64kbps. which is far below what it's supposed to be. (on all 3 computers) 5. it takes me almost 3 minutes to view a webpage(used to be less than 10 seconds), and i can't play any game due to the lag......( usually run the game smoothly) 6. my computer randomly frozen. i don't know why, it first happened about 1 day ago from when i posted this, never happened before. It's not even blue screen, its just froze there.....in middle of no where. sometimes when im starting up windows, sometimes when i'm playing game, sometimes when i'm typing something, sometimes when i'm chatting. so i have to unplug the computer's power everytime( which i believe is very bad for the hardware). so guys....anyone know how to fix these? i want to get my computer back to working...thanks for help! ty! EDIT: for the randomly frozen part, its for my HP labtop only, the other 2 computers are fine.
  14. nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.....anyways..do you any other free firewalls? if so, which one is best?
  15. i have been using zonealarm before, however after i uninstalled it for a update(the auto updater is down for some reason), i can't install it back on....at first it says zonealarm is already installed, then i restarted computer now it says im not on an admin account(WHICH I AM ON). so uh.....anybody know how to fix this? without reformatting? or does anyone know some other good and free firewalls? tyvm
  16. and the link u gave me, i downloaded it and tried. still doesnt work. it says it detected old version of the software and will auto remove it. but it ended up with i kept restarting my computer and it's not removed..should i do it manually or what..?
