  1. I have a problem with my display, and I hope someone could help me out. Since a couple of days, a few horizontal lines started appearing at random times on my monitor. They're very thin, perfectly horizantal, and they vibrate up and down, disappear and reappear from time to time. The lines are light grey, and sometimes white. My monitor was set to 800x600 resolution, with a 75Hz refresh rate (it's one of the recommended modes for my monitor). Since the lines started appearing, I've changed the refresh rate to 72Hz, to no avail. I have some experience with computers, and I've dealt with a couple of problems before but I'm no expert, so please if you have any suggestions, don't speak in too difficult terms. I know how to open the case, recognize different parts, and replace cards and stuff, but nothing too technical. Here is some information about my PC. If you need to know anything more, ask me. - Pentium III, 1Ghz - MSI GeForce FX5200 (model MS-8911), 128MB, I've had it for 2 years - ViewSonic 15" CRT monitor (model E50-2), I've had it for 5-6 years. - Windows XP Professional Thanks in advance, Andrew
  2. Try the link I posted in the post before yours.... http://www.technical-assistance.co.uk/kb/usbmsd98.php The drivers should work, so long as you have Windows 98SE Thank you, but I have Windows 98 not 98SE. Will it work or not ? Also, is it possible that this driver will do some damage to the device ? Could it affect it in any way or is it safe to try ?? Thanks. Can someone please answer this ?
  3. I'm sort of new here, and I'm not a software expert but I have a couple of questions regarding Symantec Antivirus. I'm a home user and have no network, and I have Symantec Antivirus Corporate edition 9.0. I don't know much about it as I haven't chosen to install it myself but but it's been running on my PC for couple of years now, and every now and then I run a system scan. My questions are: 1. Is it ok for a home user like me to use the corporate edition ? That is what I have now, and I don't wish to purchase another product, but I know there are a few free programs out there. Are they any good, or is this corporate edition fine for me? 2. I have version 9.0 as I mentioned, and I've heard that there's a version 10 now. But my version will still work fine, right ? Is there any good reason for someone like me to upgrade ? 3. I've been wondering about this for quite a while now. How does the auto-protection work ? The only thing I know about it is that sometimes there's this warning window which pops up while I'm working and says that it detected a threat on my PC. But it's always something that's already on my PC, and I've never got any message telling me that a certain threat from the internet was actually blocked. Yet, when I do the scans I find threats. Isn't the autoprotection supposed to prevent that kind of stuff from affecting my PC in the first place ? I know it's not bulletproof, but the thing is: I haven't had any sign until now that the program is actually doing something to protect my PC from incoming threats. I don't know much about what exactly the virus autoprotection does all the time, though I know there are such things as hacks and big viruses that can attack my PC anytime, so I'd like to know if I'm safe with SAV silently running in the background, seemingly doing nothing more than reporting threats (when there are any) that are already on the PC and that I have to manually remove.

  5. I'm sorry but I don't have the time to read through 13 thread pages. I have a Kingston U3 flash memory device and a Sandisk Sansa m230 mp3 player. None of them support Windows 98 and I need to get either of them to work on that; preferably the Kingston memory. I found a link to this thread on another forum; they said I could find a basic driver on the 1st post of this thread. I tried that, but the link doesn't work. It says "file not found". Quickly looking through the pages of this thread, I found several other links posted and I have no time to read what they're all about, so if someone please could help me or provide me a link to a basic driver for use of my devices for simple storage, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. PS: I have Windows 98 not 98SE. Will that work ??
