Dear Community, it's quite some time since the last post, and I have been continuously working on my new Vista x64 Sp2 installation since three weeks now. Yesterday, my system was finally finished. I had no luck, and MagicAndre1981 was right: Windows Media Player had to be removed. I experimented a lot with other removals and kept a lot of files in the "keep"-list of vLite (see new last session.ini). But always, the "Turn Windows-Features on or off" problem remained. Finally, I removed Windows Media Player, and it suddenly it worked. I do with vLite a long time, and never kept Windows Media Player with vLite, and Turn Windows-Features on or off" was always working. I think the dependency comes new with Vista Sp2. I will not work with vLite again, it's getting old and not suitful for Sp2 and above systems. By the end of the year, I plan to switch to Windows 7, too bad there is no real software for it like nLite and vLite was for XP and Vista. I am not an expert, and I will have to leave the install default. When you look at my last session.ini, you see I have (after a lot of struggeling and failures) only three components removed - Media Center, Screensavers, and Zip Folder. It's no loan to work this way, my earlier systems had far more removed and worked without any (known or felt) issue. Anyway, thanks a lot for helping me in this time- and nerveconsuming case! I have done many Vista installations using vLite, and having the media player not in my system is not unimportant to me, so I never kept it (since 2003 with nLite - having not windows media player is one of the main reasons for me to work with nLite and vLite). This behavior /dependency must be new in Sp2, because I was sure to turn off Games or Internet Printing with 'Turn Windows-Features on or off' in systems with removed media player until now. Can someone confirm the necessity to remove Windows Media Player for 'Turn Windows-Features on or off' to work properly? B-63

Here is data from required CBS.log containing some of numerous error messages. The file was above 32mb, and I was copying the content of an image from the overwritten actual install that I had forgotten. Therefore, it could be that I not found some needed info, but I think the (little) content here is sufficient. I see in the file CBS.log (see attached CBS.log excerpt) the path d:\longhorn\base\wcp\componentstore to the file csd_winners.cpp. D:\ is a old XP-partition, and the folder 'longhorn' does not exist (at least I not know of it). I mention it only because I not know how to handle that info. It could be of interest to know if the files MediaMetadataHandler.dll, mfpmp.exe, mferror.dll, rrinstaller.exe, mfps.dll, mf.dll should be added to the vLite Protect files-list, as I have seen their names in maybe appropriate places in the CBS.log. I hope all relevant information is now provided, it would be nice if things could continue. B-63 CBS.log_excerpt.txt

I was reading in other posts that the "Turn Windows-Features on or off"-feature is dependant also on other components, none of whom I removed. I insist that I have seen the feature is not working; I tested several builds to ensure the presence of needed components in December, resulting in near 20 attempts, and leading to a system built from the session.ini like above (as I said, without the hotfixes). During the sessions, several attempts were made to eliminate this specific problem. Finally, at the end of the year, I had managed to get to a built with no problems at all, also the sensitive "Turn Windows-Features on or off"-feature, that was sometimes not working, did work (and is working until today). Before I reinstall the failing system over my workplace again, to deliver and post the errors from the "C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log"-file that seems to be needed for fault analysis and then return to the old system with imaging (overwriting the unwanted install again), I try and look one or two days if I get help. If you got competent advice, please post. I need help because I got too little knowledge and could only "try and error", but having neither time not encouragement to do so, since nearly all of it slowly expired in my long work with nLite and vLite since 2003. sorry, but as I have only one partition for Vista, I already imaged away the system, and use now my old system from the December sessions. Should I reinstall the system just for CBS.log errors posting?

Hello vLite-Community, I got Vista Ultimate x64 Sp2, and used vLite 1.2 with unaltered last session.ini that I took from my last Vista built in December (see attachment). Unlike the December System, this time "Turn Windows-Features on or off" is giving known error message when trying and crashes. Because I not altered the settings in any way (only that hotfixes were not included), the issue puzzles me, and I am afraid it's a Sp2 /vLite incompatibility problem. Of course I checked two posts that resulted from my search for "Turn Windows-Features on or off" here in the forum, but the discussion did not help much, I still not know the problem source or any approach to a solution, and the work not goes further.
