  1. Lol, when will ppl learn, stick with XP because it works, Vista will be like XP when it was released, buggy as hell. Unless of course you have to(ie work PC's/laptops), but i would wait 12 months or until the first service pack. There is no reason to shift, games dont exploit direct X 10 yet and all the other apps are just bling bling.
  2. Unfortunately, we (us) have no say in the matter, we are not trusted, according to MS and they will soldier on with their plan.
  3. I read some articles on trusted computing and how an alliance has been struck between certain major hardware manufacturers to design hardware that will only run windows systems. It also said that microsoft are planning to control the web for their benifit only, and will shut out other operating systems, ie linux, siox linux ubuntu etc, excluding novatel. I am nuetral on this subject, and would like to know what other users think. I am aware that this thread may be pulled, so i have made a copy. Please feel free to comment.
  4. Thanks for the replys, i tend to think that they may be encrypted as a friend said that he may have inadvertantly added encryption to this folder, i will soldier on, i've found a few more data recovery programs to delve a bit deeper. Thanks again.
  5. I have recently recovered some data off a friends drive from his laptop. I used Uneraser(found 99% of deleted files) to recover the lost data, but one particular folder will not allow me to open the files within it. These files are jpg's , and the title appears in green, leading me to think they are associated with a program. The laptop died but i suspect a virus has corrupted the boot sector as the drive would not boot when put into another Toshiba pro satellite 6100 and fired up. I have tried to open them with just about every program i could find without any luck, kodak easyshare says they are corrupt. Is it possible that this file has been corrupted by a virus, and not the other files and folders in the same root directory? It seems weird, i have not seen this before. Can anyone help please?
