  1. Its normal for setup to continue once you have hit f6. Be sure you have the proper driver for your windows version. x32/x64 win2k3/vista etc... I had this board when it was first released, and remember having difficulty getting the correct driver. You may have to just guess and check till you find the right one. It sounds like the driver you have is good for the textmode setup, but when windows attempts to boot, its not getting what it wants.
  2. Well i figured out why i was getting this error. As i noted, i was installing back onto a system that had an existing copy of windows. After my last post, I disabled windows file protection and deleted all files within "program files/outlook express". When i ran setup this time, the errors were gone. So now i have just added a step in my scripts that takes care of deleting the program files folder before install. hope this helps someone.
  3. no one can shed some light on this? some more details.... I am running everything from the hard drive. I boot to winpe, and execute the install. 100% automated from the time i click reboot in the OS... at least thats the theory. im pretty sure the files are there on the media/hd. They are compressed DL_ files, prepended with a 'w'. i have tired this using both win2k3 std x64 R2, and win2k3 std x64 (no servicepack) I have chnaged OemPreInstall="no"... didnt help i have remove all service packs in the svcpack.inf file. note that i am installing over an existing 32 bit version of win2k ....100 other random things.... thanks for reading
  4. this problem is driving me insane. I have tried everything to get around this issue (wellll obviously not EVERYTHING...). here is what i get at t-13: "An error occurred loading x\xxxx\filename.dll. The file may not have been installed or it has been corrupted" The interesting thing, is that the dialog that pops up this message has the title "Windows Update". I get the error message for the following files: c:\program files\outlook express\oeimport.dll c:\program files\outlook express\oemiglib.dll c:\program files\outlook express\wabfind.dll can someone help out with this. Where could this error come from? i am NOT using NLite. unattend.txt [Data] AutomaticUpdates="No" Autopartition=0 MsDosInitiated=0 UnattendedInstall="Yes" [unattended] UnattendMode=FullUnattended UnattendSwitch="Yes" OemPreinstall="Yes" OemSkipEula="Yes" FileSystem=ConvertNTFS WaitForReboot="No" NoWaitAfterTextMode=1 NoWaitAfterGUIMode=1 DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore NonDriverSigningPolicy=Ignore Hibernation="No" OemPnPDriversPath="\drivers\1;\drivers\2" [GuiUnattended] EncryptedAdminPassword="No" AutoLogon="Yes" AutoLogonCount=4 AdminPassword="password TimeZone=85 OEMSkipRegional=1 OemSkipWelcome=1 [LicenseFilePrintData] AutoMode=PerSeat [userData] ProductKey="xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" ComputerName=SRV002 FullName="xxxxx" OrgName="xxxx" [RegionalSettings] Language= "0409" [Networking] InstallDefaultComponents="No" [GuiRunOnce] "%systemdrive%\runOnce\runOnce.cmd" [NetClients] MS_MSClient=params.MS_MSClient [NetServices] MS_SERVER=params.MS_SERVER MS_PSched=params.MS_PSched [NetProtocols] MS_TCPIP=params.MS_TCPIP [params.MS_TCPIP] AdapterSections=params.MS_TCPIP.Adapter1 [NetAdapters] Adapter1=params.Adapter1 [params.Adapter1] [params.MS_TCPIP.Adapter1] SpecificTo=Adapter1 IPAddress=xxxxxxxxxxxxxx DHCP="No" SubnetMask=xxxxxxxxxxxxx DefaultGateway=xxxxxxxxxxxx DNSServerSearchOrder=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx WINS="No" NetBIOSOptions=0 [params.MS_NWIPX.Adapter1] SpecificTo=Adapter1 NetworkNumber=00000000 PktType=0xFF [WindowsFirewall] Profiles=WindowsFirewall.TurnOffFirewall [WindowsFirewall.TurnOffFirewall] Mode=0 [identification] JoinWorkgroup="workgroup" (sorry for the duplicate post... just trying to cast a broad net and get this solved)

  6. You shouldnt have to worry about this if your opening ports during setup... read this technet article: http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsServe...3.mspx?mfr=true "Post-Setup Security Updates is a user interface that appears the first time an administrator logs onto the new server and provides links for you to apply updates to your server and to configure automatic updates. Post-Setup Security Updates also informs the administrator that all inbound connections other than those specifically opened during setup or by policy settings, were blocked. If the administrator set exceptions to the firewall through Group Policy or by an unattended setup script, inbound connections assigned to these exceptions remain open."
  7. Anthonyy, did you ever get this figured out ? Im attempting a similar task and could use some help...
  8. Alright, i have been trying to get this done for the last couple days without much success. Its very hard to google this type of thing, and i have only been able to get solutions that involve some type of physical access to the computer.... I have leased a w2k3 machine from a popular dedicated server company. However, it is 32 bit, and i need 64bit. The server company wont help out in any way, but they have said they have no problem with me remotely re-installing the OS if i can find a way (im sure they said that only because they know its not easy). Can someone point me in the direction to get this done? The server has two physical hard drives installed, and is currently running win2k3. The only access i have is through remote desktop. What will it take to bootstrap the setup files? thanks for any help!
