  1. I've been using Office XP for quite some time and it's still on my main PC. I have a more recently built PC with Office 2007 on it. I'm just getting around to getting my feet wet in the new suite. I'm looking for suggestions about help with this specific task or a pointer to forums that can help with this and similar questions. In Word XP I created a template "small letter.dot" which opens up a "page" 5.5" x 8.5" (half a letter size page). When I start a new document based on this template in Word XP I get the page size I'm expecting plus the current date appears at the top of the page. It appears as plain text; that is it's not a field. No macro is involved. I forget how I did it. When I open a new document based on this template in Word 2007 the document size is correct but the date (or anything else) does not appear. I opened the template to edit in Word XP and do not see anything on it. I wonder what the cool trick was? I'd like to be able to recreate the behavior in Word 2007! Thanks - Dave
