  1. Good morning guys, You know what? I guess I spoke too soon. The user is reporting the same problem. Guess I am going to have to call Microsoft and pay $245 for them to fix this thing. -TheeSpaniard
  2. Alright guys, I think I got the user up and going. The following are things that I have done.... 1. Delete the SoftwareDistribution folder from %windir% 2. Disabled (Stopped) the BITS and Automatic Update Service 3. Ran the WindowsXP-KB914810-v2-x86-ENU.exe hot fix 4. Rebooted 5. Enabled (Started) the BITS and Automatic Update Service 6. Manually ran Windows Updates 7. Installed all Critical Updates 8. Rebooted For some reason, performing these steps helped get the svchost.exe process to become more manageable. We are still keeping an eye on the CPU usage and I plan on responding back to this forum next week with an update. I was able to pinpoint the exact problem. The svchost.exe would peg the CPU (100%) whenever the Automatic Update Service was started but when stopping the service, the process would eat up nothing. I tried applying the KB916089-v5 hot fix but it did not fix my issue. I hope that this information is able to help someone out! -TheeSpaniard
