  1. @radix Did you get the error during installation? Or trying to run Nero Express? Can anyone else confirm this error?
  2. Hi, guys!! I think I've done it!! I got a Nero Micro down to 13.7mb!! What's even better is that it's only 24mb installed!! So far, I've only burned a coupla Audio CD's, but everything seems to be working just fine. I need everyone to download this and lemme know if they have any issues: Raghul Nero Micro 7.9.6.0 eng MD5: 5B7E5FEB7CFBFA2A45AB7C1DA220B124 Thx
  3. @Major So, the Mausau files are plugins? So, THAT'S why I couldn't find them! (Trying to make my own NeroMicro....) Man, Acheron made it sound as if it would be real simple to use his SDK and just pop out your own Nero, but it's NOT. Well, to make matters worse, I'm an "Inno n00b". Really, it seems like the most important thing is the .iss file, truth be told. But according to slavestate, even that needed updating. I downloaded slavestate's version of 7.9.6.0. Seems to work great so far. His is a couple megs smaller than yours, Major. But Acheron's was even smaller. I think there's a few files that can be reshacked. We'll see. If I can get a working Nero installation file done, and shave a few megs off of it, I'll post. @Shark Thanks for your participation. I totally agree with you on the updated SDK. Not sure if I know enough quite yet to put one out, but if I can... Great work, all!
  4. I think I know what you're trying to say, razor. I ran into the same problem with Roxio a couple yrs back. You have a file that is MPEG1 encoded, which is basically the same format as VCD, but when you plug it in to Nero for burning, Nero wants to encode it. Well, Nero Lite/Micro won't do that. You would need to use Nero Recode. But I don't recommend it AT ALL. It takes forever, but more importantly, Nero isn't very good at it either. I tried it twice with Roxio and Nero both. They really suck at encoding, whether it's MPEG to VCD, AVI to DVD, etc. I waited 2 hrs just to have it tell me it won't fit on a disk. For what you're trying to do, I recommend DVD Shrink, ConvertXtoDVD, or WinAVI (in that order).
  5. Thx for the info, slavestate!! I was this close to makin' my own, but I had the same problems you did. It's kinda hard figuring out something new, especially when: a ) I'm a total n00b with Inno. b ) I'm trying to decipher someone else's work. With this info, though, should be quite easy. Thx!!
  6. @Braese Don't worry about the serial problem. If you made your installer using Acheron's files, then this is a known problem. It ALWAYS happens. Not your fault. @razor813 That sounds more like a registry problem to me... not caused by Nero Micro/Lite. Try cleaning your registry with CCleaner. After that, restart the pc and try it again. Let me know how it goes. @Major Still haven't gotten to testing Nero 6 yet. Been busy finishing my monthly 'updated' XP cd... Kinda ironic, though. We're testing Nero 6, and they're prolly gonna release Nero 8 pretty soon.
  7. @Pipol I would suggest CloneDVD or DVD Shrink instead. Nero is a great burning engine, but these 2 programs not only do it better than NeroRecode, they also do it faster. @Major Sorry I haven't gotten back to you on Nero6. I've been laid-up in bed (twisted my ankle real bad.) Will try to test tomorrow. Btw, thx for the links.
  8. @Major If you need any help with the Spanish packs, let me know. Also, could you PM me the link to Nero 6 Lite/Micro? Thx.
  9. First, lemme just give Major a biggggg TY!! :thumbup Not all of us know Inno. I tried playing with it a little (just goes to show HOW desperate I was for 7850!!), but I couldn't make heads or tails of it. I'm sure I could've figured it out... if I had a wk or 2 to play around with it, but my plate is pretty full lately. So, tyvm Major!! Just one thing... Crapidshare. Thx for posting, but if ANYBODY could provide mirrors, that would be sweet! PS: Major, if you send me the PirateShare.net links, I'll make torrents and post the links here at MSFN.
  10. Ach, You gotta realize you started something pretty **** popular here. We all love it, we all want it. Maybe it's like Fight Club: it's become bigger than any one man. But if that's the case, maybe you could pass the baton to someone else. This seems to important to just let it die.
  11. Ach, If you need some help with your site, just gimme a buzz. I don't really know code, but I'm pretty handy with Dreamweaver and Corel. Just holla.
  12. Thx, Innocent. I was hoping for the whole thing, actually, since I'm a n00b with the whole Inno thing, but I'll give it a shot!! (Ach, where r u man?)
  13. @Innocent Devil If you have it, send it to Ach!! I would really like a 7850. @Ach, Where´s 7850, buddy? Been a few wks, now. I´m dyin´here!!
  14. Thx, Ach!! That's good news! I'm SO glad to hear this project isn't dead! BTW, til Acheron can get his page back up, here's a Crapidshare link for Nero Lite and Micro 7.7.5.1: Nero Lite 7.7.5.1
  15. Acheron, Great stuff, man!! :thumbup I had a customer with Vista... 7751 worked beautifully!! Both Micro English AND Micro Southern Europe!! As for the alternative burning apps you mentioned: Plz don't stop making Nero Lite! I tried alot of those. They WEREN'T great. I mean, they're alright, but this thing you got goin' on is MUCH better than any of those. Sure, Nero has become super-bloatware, but one thing that CANNOT be denied is this: It has the best burning engine on the market. Less "shiny beer-coasters". And the SlimFast diet you put it on means it doesn't suck up HD space, either! In fact, I tried the Demo 7.5 full version from Ahead's website. Yours is FASTER, too! CDBurnerXPpro is okay. But (not sure, haven't used it in yrs) I believe your Nero Micro is smaller. And faster. InfraRecorder isn't much more than XP's built-in IMAPI. Light? Yes. As robust, powerful, or fast as Nero? NO WAY. Of all the one's ZileXa mentioned, I'd have to say ImgBurner is the one I like the most. And I use it often. There are some things it does really well that Nero cannot. However, it is in no way a REPLACEMENT for Nero, more of a companion. Plus, it has a bit of a learning curve. Nowhere near as easy to use as Nero Express. Curious about Nero8. Hadn't heard anything about it. If you decide to drop it, I'll figure something out. But I hope you keep with it. It's AWESOME. I stopped using DeepBurner in favor of this! PS: Why did the original thread get CLOSED?
  16. startrekrobs, I don't think "phones home" is a joke at all. It wouldn't be the FIRST time an M$ app did that. Heard of Alexa? And actually, I think it DOES phone home, at least in 10 and 11. I'll check, and post what I find. Also, WMP11 has DRM, and a bunch of other crap added to it. I mean, there's alot of nice stuff in it, but lots of crap, too. All those codecs you mentioned are nice. I myself use ffdshow. It has been revived by clsid and xxl. It's listed on a lot of download sites, but most of them list the wrong one. Here is a link to the project at SourceForge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow-tryout/ I've downloaded the nightly builds many times, never had a problem. I use it together with Media Player Classic, another SourceForge opensource project. Dirtbag, I hope you didn't get those two confused. The opensource version looks alot like 6.4 (It's in fact based on it.), but it's MUCH better. Here's a link: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.p...ackage_id=84358 And if you wanna add WMP11 without all the crap, download boooggy's WMP11 Tweaked Addon (using nlite): http://boooggyaddons.xable.net/ I wouldn't remove Media Player from Windows. You could lose some functionality (like with .WMA or .WMV files), but you don't necessarily have to update to 11 either. Up to you. Hope this helps.
  17. I ran Vista RC2 on a 1.3ghz Duron, 512mb RAM... It ran, at least. But I didn't install any apps on it. I'm sure that if I had, it would've dragged. Aero Glass was disabled. From what I've been reading, looks like a 2ghz CPU and 1gb RAM is a bare minimum.
  18. Hmm... this is interesting. I've played with a few Vista betas, but never got to any hotfixes. I never knew the hotfixes were this ".msu" file. Must be Microsucks' new .msi (Great, another installer-type file to give us all headaches!! ) @anonymous, Well, duh!! Tell us something we DON'T know! Anyone got any information about this type of file? PS: It's interesting to note that Vista JUST got released, and already has Hotfixes for it. So much for improved security!
  19. I don't have Vista yet, but as I posted in another Topic, I might get it after seeing all that's going on over here. But most of the posts so far seem to be about fixing bugs. I mean, I'm all for that! But I'm curious to hear from someone who's had SUCCESS with this. How low can it go? Can you get Vista on one CD? Performance increases? Less driver problems? Let's hear some SUCCESS STORIES!!
  20. I agree, nuhi. The tweak in nLite for the 'Minimum Hard Drive space requirement' makes ALOT of sense, seeing as how you can easily shrink xp to an infant with all the Removed Components. Myself, I first create a 1GB partition with my nlite'd CD. Since the Recycle Bin reserves a certain percentage of hard drive space (12%, I think), you can save even more HD space with this tweak. However, with Vista, even if you CAN do it... why? I mean, technically, XP can run on 128mb. I've even gotten it to run on 100mb. But (hehehe), try to install a few apps on top of it. Forget it!! You can get by with 256mb, but you should have at least 512mb to get by.... with XP! At tomshardware, their tests show that you REALLY need about 1gb of RAM to get any decent performance out of Vista. So, it's interesting to know it can be done. But, for the love of all that is geeky, PLEASE DON'T!! :P BTW, I hadn't planned on messin' with Vista for at least a few months, but after seeing what you're doing with vLite, I'm DAMNED tempted!! (Nice job, nuhi!!)
  21. Hmmm... the Vista issue is weird, although not ENTIRELY unexpected. Of course, it's a Nero issue, I'm sure. Not Acheron's. But hey, if 7.5.9.0 worked fine, then use that!! I haven't played with Vista myself since RC2, I think. It's funny. I played around with it more when it was in beta than I do now that it's RTM. I guess I'm just waiting for all the sysadmins to complain to M$ and make 'em update it for a yr or so 'til I'm confident enough to put it on my system. LOL BTW, Acheron, 7.7.5.1 Micro works just fine in XP!
  22. Sweet!! Thx, Acheron! As for this being the FIRST stable release, well, I personally have nvr had a prob with any of your releases. In fact, it runs MUCH faster than Nero Bloat Professional. I hope, if you get a chance, you might help me make a switchless for this, so that I may make an addon pack for nlite. (I'm kinda a noob with the silent/switchless installers.) Since I ALWAYS install this on fresh systems, I might as well integrate it. PS: Now, I just gotta wait for the language-specific versions. (I have a few Spanish-speaking customers) What if you just made language packs? Wouldn't that be easier?
  23. Acheron, Brilliant stuff! Question: This NeroAPI stuff... so, the new Nero uses Unicode, correct? If you gutted the NeroAPI, does the resulting Nero Lite wind up bigger, or smaller? And how important is this NeroAPI? elajua says that DVDShrink uses it. But what if you were to just use DVDShrink to 'shrink', then open Nero separately to burn the result? I guess what I'm trying to say is: Does DVDShrink use NeroAPI to burn, or does the resulting DVD file on your hard drive only work with NeroAPI? (Patiently awaiting 7.7.5.1 Micro...)
  24. Don't worry about the bad English. That seems to be a pre-requisite here!! (LOL) Could you post your LAST_SESSION.ini file? You should find it in the folder where your nlite xp is on your hard drive. Once you find it, attach it to your message. This will make it alot easier for forum members to help you. PS: Please try to add it as an attached file, not a huge, long list that will take up an entire page of this MSFN thread.
  25. Honestly, I don't really know. But I wouldn't think so. Although, I kinda think you're missing the big picture, which is: Why, in the name of all that is holy, would you even want to DO such a thing? Save yourself time, gray hairs, and bloodshot eyes. Get a copy of Windows XP SP2. Any copy, Corporate/Pro/(even Home... ) will do, just as long as it isn't that BLASPHEMOUS Dell/HP/Compaq/Gateway RD crap!!
