  1. @iceangel Not being able to install IE7 could be many, many things.... and you've given us very little information. A few questions: When you say that you "can't install IE7", do you mean after Windows is installed, or during install (i.e, RunOnce, added with nLite, etc...)? Does IE6 still work? Can you get on the net? Have you tried re-downloading IE7 to make sure the hashes match? Can you post us a copy of your .INI file, so we can see what has been removed/added to your CD?
  2. I usually just download the latest nightly build. So far (knock on wood), haven't had a problem. I thought the Official Beta 2 would be the most stable release. The one at x264 is dated June 3rd. Today is the 8th. I'll assume you know what you're talking about, ZileXa, since you're old school at MSFN (no offense intended). But I'm just wondering, how do you know that's the newest stable release??
  3. Hmm, so it's the AdvrCtr2.dll file that's causing all the problems. I had thought it was that myself. I think Acheron ResHack'ed it in the past to get his to work. Thx for the info, fusi0n. Hopefully, I can put it to good use!! BTW, anyone got some tips/tutorials on using InnoSetup Form Designer? I'm pretty sure I'll have to re-do the form to get the activation to work correctly.
  4. I second that one. I've used it on my last two install CD's (I usually make one per month). Works just fine!! You can stick the 'Official' IE7 onto your CD with nLite as well. I've used it, and it works just fine. But first startup/login usually takes longer. Plus, it doesn't always install the IE7 updates.
  5. For Intellipoint, it should be pretty easy: First, download Driver Grabber. It's a sweet little app from Siginet at RyanVM. This thing will grab just what you need for all non-Microsoft drivers (including Intellipoint, assuming you have it installed. It won't grab it from the installation .exe or .msi itself.) Then, just use nLite to add it with 'Integrate Drivers'. That's it!! As for the rest, I'll look 'em up tomorrow. Kinda sleepy now.
  6. You can slipstream any Office 2003 with volume licensing. It shouldn't work with Standard, Professional, or Small Business editions. But as far as I know, only the Enterprise edition has volume licensing, not Standard.
  7. I haven't tried your Lite version yet, Shark. I'll check it out. But honestly, it'd have to be pretty darn good in order for me to give up Foxit. I mean, good work, but... just sayin'.
  8. I put FFDShow on nearly all of my xp CD's. Get the latest version here: FFDShow Tryouts The original FFDShow was abondoned nearly 3 yrs ago, but these guys restarted the project with more current codecs. You can use the nightly builds if you like. I've never had a problem with them. But if you want to 'play it safe', I suggest you use the Official Beta 2. Here are the switches: /VERYSILENT /SP-
  9. @nuhi Just saying hi, and thx!! Last few versions have worked flawlessly for me. I would like to see more 'removal' options, though, in future releases. And, if you could, maybe a little more detail in some sections, to make it easier to decide what we can/can't remove. Keep up the excellent work!
  10. Hehehe... why would you want to change it? Does anyone ever read that crap anyways? Honestly, though, what's MSCF?
  11. I just did a switchless installer for v8.0.0.64 a few hours ago using keytotime's tutorial. No probs! Incidentally, I think you might also be able to do it by leaving 'setup.exe' in the 7z package, and calling on it instead of the '.msi', thus eliminating the need for 'msistub.exe'. ('Setup.exe' will jump-start the '.msi' file for you.) But 'setup.exe' is kinda whacky, and for some reason doesn't always work for me (before repacking). I would use the msi method, just to be safe. Tried and true.
  12. @rick Ya, he's right. Except for the 2 files you mentioned (NeroGadgetCMServer.bin, NeroGadgetCMServer.exe), everything else should already be there. ......... I haven't found another way to activate Nero so far, other than Major's AutoIt script. I'm learning all of this (Inno, IS Tool, Pascal) from scratch, though. It reminds me of 'silent installers' all over again... only, with programming. Well, I have a few things on the backburner that I've been putting off, so I'm gonna take a break for a couple days, then tackle Nero again.
  13. @Rick That gadget is sweet!! If you can figure out which files are required, I don't see why they shouldn't be added to Micro/Lite, especially if it's just a .DLL or two (as I suspect.) @Solomon Same goes for you. Still, I never heard anyone say that using the CMD was easier, but hey, there's still alot of DOS geeks out there. Hehehe.... If I can pop out a Nero, I'll try to include these. But man, it's been kickin' my butt!! I'm kinda stuck, but Acheron has been PM'ing me, so... STAY TUNED!!
  14. Actually, if you just use keytotime's Tutorial, all you have to do is add 'msistub.exe', and just call on the .msi file by using the text: Works like a charm!
  15. Although Andromeda43 has very accurate information, I believe he's missing the point. Life expectancy of digital media IS measured in decades. Even so, most people usually begin to have problems with their CD/DVD's MUCH earlier, mainly due to scratches, smudges, fingerprints, heat exposure, etc... Unless you own a Hollywood studio with an expensive vault to preserve all of your disks, it's nearly impossible to prevent this. Sh*t happens. However, I think Gekko_uk was referring to video files on his hard drive, not CD/DVD's. There are lots of good suggestions above, but I think the best thing to do would be to simply 'slave' the hard drive with the AVI/MPEG files to another computer, preferably one that's been recently formatted and has all the proper codecs (I recommend ffdshow.) That way, you'll know whether the problem lies with the files on your HDD, or your Windows installation. If they still won't play right on another PC, then I suggest a defrag. If they do play fine on a friend's PC, but not your own, then your Windows is hosed.
  16. Hehehe, User Assinine Crap. LOL. Geez, who really wants Vista support? You guys, just tweak XP. You can get it to do nearly ALL the things that Vista does, but without the overhead. And without crappy UAC. (Kel, before you smite me, just addin' my 2 pennies. )
  17. Some of them CAN, others CAN'T. But I think what you're actually looking for are the ADDONS, not the switchless installers themselves (unless you want to make the addons yourself.) Here's a coupla links: RyanVM Torrents (Very useful for finding most popular RyanVM Addons) [bETA] RyanVM .NET Framework All-In-One Package BETA2 Still in BETA. I haven't been following this one, so you'll have to go through the posts yourself. Sorry. RyanVM forums SEARCH page You can find pretty much any addon you need by using this link. Hope that helps.
  18. For languages other than English, you will need to download the tutorial and create your own installer. Currently it installs English. I was going to mention this myself. I did a Spanish installer by installing the Spanish one, tweaking it, then copying over the files from the installation directory to Shark's installer through Winrar. Works like a charm. (I didn't know you could do it by just copying over the "msgslang.8.1.0178.00.dll" file. Cool!)
  19. Yeah, you have both those options: Sonic's method, or Shark's Personally, I prefer Shark's installer. It's already done for ya, and you can edit it. So if you like to tweak out MSN, (shrink it, remove ads, whatever) his is real nice to work with.
  20. Thx for the tip, Shark. Will do. I'm just trying to figure out a way to get through activation correctly. Of course, I don't really know how Nero does it, and I don't think Acheron did, either. Of course, in keeping with the forum rules (and good practice, too), we should try to keep the installers so that it at least 'emulates' the Nero installer - at least so much as the serial key/activation is concerned. It's tough, though. I'm learning Inno from scratch, and the documentation is not very widespread. [EDIT] Oh, you were referring to SoftICE... Okay, my bad. I didn't even know about that one 'til radix posted it. I had to 'Google' it. Yeah, true, it's mainly used by hackers. But it does have some legitimate purposes, too. LOL. Still, I get your point. So, no more of that stuff.
  21. Hmm... the SDK would be nice, Major. But... Honestly, I hadn't noticed the AutoIt script at the end of Major's Nero until Dynaletik mentioned it. And it makes it look like a hack (which I guess it is in a way...) I think there has to be a cleaner way to get through the Nero activation correctly. I wish I had one of those programs that runs in the background and tells you what happens when you run another program. They're mainly used by hackers, but it would help me figure out what Nero's doing, and why it won't activate. I used to have one, but not anymore. Anyways, my brains are fried. If I figure anything out, I'll post later.
  22. Ok, I've confirmed slavestate's error. Looks like a problem Major encountered before with 7.8.5.0. I PM'ed him, and am waiting for a reply. If anyone else knows how to fix this, please PM me. For those of you that have successfully installed my version, any other issues?
  23. @razor813 I hope I don't sound mean, but I really think the problem is your pc. You prolly need to clean out the registry. Try CCleaner or TuneUp Utilities 2007. But, to be completely honest, the thing you're doing wrong is trying to use Nero first place. Nero is fine for audio CD projects, data CD/DVD, even movie DVD's (if the source AND destination are the same size. Usually, they're not.) For what you're trying to do, even the full version of Nero isn't a great idea. Nero is just for straight-forward, disc-to-disc copying, audio CD's, and data. Which is what most people use it for, and why this Nero Lite project got started to begin with. Everything else (specifically VCD's or movie DVD's) should be handled by other programs that are much better suited to the task.
  24. @adamlau Glad to hear it! @radix Ok, are you using a serial number, or just "Demo" when installing? @Dynaletik Can you give me more information about the 'fresh install' problem? If it involves the way Nero activates, maybe I can find a workaround. I need more people to test and comment to find whether or not radik's problem is isolated, plz. Thx!!
