  1. I have a Promise SATA300 TX4 IDE Controller: PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3D17&SUBSYS_3D17105A&REV_02 PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3D17&SUBSYS_3D17105A PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3D17&CC_018000 PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3D17&CC_0180 XP SP3 (I have tried SP2 with the same result) Using Driverpacks.net plugin DPs_BASE_8123 and latest driverpack DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_901 I have googled the error and can't find anything. The same error comes up on Dell PE Servers with Perc SAS or SATA controllers. As well as a Dell Latitude 630 laptop. I have asked in Driverpacks.net forum and they were unable to help. They suggested I move the card to a different slot and I did with the same result. I have an older BartPE disk with older DPBASE & MassStorage pack that works. So I know the hardware works. It just does not work with the newer drivers. maye I'll look for an older DPBASE(805 does not work) and an older, known good driverpack and see if that can work. Anyone see this error code?? Or have any suggestions? Thanks Mark
  2. First I ghosted the laptop with a fresh factory image of XPsp2 then ran the full-file version of SP3 (I downloaded this when it first came out). It showed only a few updates and no IE7. Then I ran Microsoft updates after installing IE7 and it still showed no updates. I know there are atleast IE7 updates it should have found. Then I reghosted with the same factory image and ran Microsoft updates installed SP3 from Microsoft updates, rebooted and ran updates again and that is when it found a ton of updates including Ie7. It installed the updates. I ran Micorosft updates again and it found the IE7 updates I was looking for in the first place. That is what I was talking about. Has anyone seen this? Is there a new version of SP3 to download? Thanks Mark
  3. Strange! I used the same ghost image and used Microsoft update version of SP3 instead of the IT Full File version I downloaded before and after installing it I ran updates and there were over 100 updates including Ie7. I'm gonna keep testing.
  4. SP3 has been out for a while and there have been numerous updates since Sp3 came out. I have some Fuji Lifebooks that I have a factory image for and when I image them and after I install SP3 it shows only 3 critical, 2 optional and 1 hardware update. IE7 is not installed and it is not in Microsoft updates to be installed. the last time I tried this I went to Microsoft.com and manually installed IE7 then ran updates and ther still were no updates listed. Has anyone else seen this? I realize they switch priority to Vista but why would IE7 not be listed in updates after SP3 is installed? Any thoughts? Thanks Mark
  5. I looked on Symantecs web site and can't find anything. I also looked at bepatch.msp /? and I did not see anthing. Is there a way to slipstream SP2 & 15 updates into the install files? Right now it takes an hour+ to install SP2 and the updates. I have over 200 clients I have to install BE 11D on. Thanks
  6. I would like to boot the laptop into MsConfig diagnostics mode. How would I do that from a BartPe disk or from command line? I’m gonna add /safeboot:minimal /sos to my boot.ini but I don’t think that will put the laptop into the full diags mode. I opened msconfig from my BArtPE disk but I cant select diagnostics mode. I can select Normal or Selective mode but that is it. And when I add /safeboot:minimal to the boot.ini it would not let me save the changes, I will manually edit the file and add the switches. Thanks
  7. Thanks but that was not it. I looked at the startup group, looked in the registry at run and run once, and looked at ERDs autoruns. I did find a few weird items in the autoruns and I deleted them. and it still does not boot. I'm getting ready to just reOS it if I can't figure it out.. Any more ideas would be much appreciated!! Thanks
  8. I have a laptop with XP Home. The user installed IE7 now it logs in and right back out to the Welcome screen. It is NOT “wsaupdater.exe” The issue is: my client was having problems with IE6 so she installed IE7. I don’t know if the install finished or not. But now the laptop boots to the Welcome screen and she clicks her user account and it logs into windows and logs off right away. It comes back to the Welcome Screen. The same thing in Safe mode with her account as well as the Administrator account. I used a Reatogo boot disk with ERD2005 to boot and did the following: * Checked the registry for USERINIT and it is %windir%\system32\userinit.exe, * Copied the Userinit.exe to wsaupdater.exe (just in case it was the wsaupdater.exe problem) * Used Locksmith to give the user and administrator a password (1 forum said blank password could cause this) * Cleared out the event logs (Another forum said a full event log would cause this) * Used ERDs Autoruns and it says it cannot find c:\windows\system32\userinit.exe (userinit.exe is there in the system32 directory) * When I first booted with the Reatogo CD the SYSTEM32 directory was hidden. I unhid it but that did not make a difference. Any help would be much appreciated
  9. Thanks They upgraded the PCs to XP. Porblem solved..
  10. I have a client that wants to run RDP session or multiple sessions to a Windows 2000 Workstation. I know it can be done by Hyena, PcAnywhere, & VNC. These solutions would require them to install a server and a client. A couple of years ago I thought I saw some hacks that would allow RDP session, possibly multiple RDP sessions, on Windows 2000 Workstation. Thanks
  11. I tried this script and it did not work. I tried it as an HTML, asp, aspx. I'm just looking for a simple dialouge box asking if I want to run "hardware.exe"? YES or NO.

  13. I have seen some things on the net but have not seen a fix for this. On boot up my pc seems to hang or take a long time to finish booting. The desktop with icons comes up and the hourglass goes away but if I click a program such as Outlook or IE the pc takes a long time to respond. I bring up task manager and click the memory column and the first item is SVCHOST.exe and it is over 100megs. I can kill the process and my pc is fine with normal response times. What is this process? Can I stop it from running at boot up? I have run CCLEANER, AdAware, Antivirus, Hijack this. I even uninstalled Office, All Java installs, .NET framework 1 2& 3, Disabled Automatic update & Windows update. I even added RAM figuring the more Ram I had the less this would impact my other programs. It grew with the added RAM. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Rodommoc
  14. I want to run the Vista Perf Mon in XP. In addition it would be great if it could run as a standalone from a CD or thumbdrive. I am a field Engineer and this would be a great addition to my Bart/Reatogo Diag CD.
