  1. BOO! I gotta reinstall again?? LoL! Thankfully, I'm backing up my media on another partition, and not backing up across the network. But no, its a legit copy. =] Its our company's copy, as far as I know, it was obtained via MSDN subscription. We have a 64-bit and 32-bit version, I tried the 64-bit, but found out that our email hosting company doesn't support 64-bit Office applications, and had to revert, talk about frustrating. I guess my next step is contact Microsoft, and see what they say. Just annoying contacting them, cuz it takes FOREVER to get any answers out of them. Thanks again for everyone's help. *cheers*
  2. Also, I tried that last install using the command line, and not Add/Remove features. HTH's!
  3. It spits out these three errors in the Application log. This what you are looking for? Again... Thanks for ALL the help! =D - <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> - <System> <Provider Name="Windows Error Reporting" /> <EventID Qualifiers="0">1001</EventID> <Level>4</Level> <Task>0</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2009-08-18T17:06:33.000000000Z" /> <EventRecordID>43245</EventRecordID> <Channel>Application</Channel> <Computer>4400SDM.canopyfi.com</Computer> <Security /> </System> - <EventData> <Data>652013287</Data> <Data>5</Data> <Data>CbsPackageServicingFailure2</Data> <Data>Not available</Data> <Data>0</Data> <Data>6.1.7600.16385</Data> <Data>Microsoft-Windows-Foundation-Package</Data> <Data>6.1.7600.16385</Data> <Data>x86</Data> <Data>unknown</Data> <Data>80070643</Data> <Data>Execute</Data> <Data>Installed</Data> <Data>Installed</Data> <Data>DISM Package Manager Provider</Data> <Data /> <Data>C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive\Critical_6.1.7600.16385_53c9d8dd57efdadbfc5f103e7637f0eeafb28953_16a87957</Data> <Data /> <Data>0</Data> <Data>770c1fc9-8c19-11de-b7b8-002170d9b6cf</Data> <Data>0</Data> </EventData> </Event> - <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> - <System> <Provider Name="Windows Error Reporting" /> <EventID Qualifiers="0">1001</EventID> <Level>4</Level> <Task>0</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2009-08-18T17:06:27.000000000Z" /> <EventRecordID>43244</EventRecordID> <Channel>Application</Channel> <Computer>4400SDM.canopyfi.com</Computer> <Security /> </System> - <EventData> <Data /> <Data>0</Data> <Data>CbsPackageServicingFailure2</Data> <Data>Not available</Data> <Data>0</Data> <Data>6.1.7600.16385</Data> <Data>Microsoft-Windows-Foundation-Package</Data> <Data>6.1.7600.16385</Data> <Data>x86</Data> <Data>unknown</Data> <Data>80070643</Data> <Data>Execute</Data> <Data>Installed</Data> <Data>Installed</Data> <Data>DISM Package Manager Provider</Data> <Data>C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CbsPersist_20090817215536.cab C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log C:\Windows\servicing\Sessions\Sessions.xml C:\Windows\winsxs\poqexec.log C:\Windows\inf\setupapi.dev.log</Data> <Data /> <Data /> <Data>0</Data> <Data>770c1fc9-8c19-11de-b7b8-002170d9b6cf</Data> <Data>0</Data> </EventData> </Event> - <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> - <System> <Provider Name="Windows Error Reporting" /> <EventID Qualifiers="0">1001</EventID> <Level>4</Level> <Task>0</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2009-08-18T17:06:27.000000000Z" /> <EventRecordID>43243</EventRecordID> <Channel>Application</Channel> <Computer>4400SDM.canopyfi.com</Computer> <Security /> </System> - <EventData> <Data /> <Data>0</Data> <Data>CbsPackageServicingFailure2</Data> <Data>Not available</Data> <Data>0</Data> <Data>6.1.7600.16385</Data> <Data>Microsoft-Windows-Foundation-Package</Data> <Data>6.1.7600.16385</Data> <Data>x86</Data> <Data>unknown</Data> <Data>80070643</Data> <Data>Execute</Data> <Data>Installed</Data> <Data>Installed</Data> <Data>DISM Package Manager Provider</Data> <Data /> <Data>C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportQueue\Critical_6.1.7600.16385_53c9d8dd57efdadbfc5f103e7637f0eeafb28953_0f5c63c4</Data> <Data /> <Data>0</Data> <Data>770c1fc9-8c19-11de-b7b8-002170d9b6cf</Data> <Data>4</Data> </EventData> </Event>
  4. I have 6.1.7600.16385 I'm going to feel like a HUGE moron if I've got the wrong one installed. =[ But, better to feel like a huge moron, and ask you guys, then continue not working, right? I hope.... heh
  5. I've tried both. Using DISM just seems to give me the fail quicker, were using the Add/Remove it prompts me to reboot, then goes thru the motion, failes, then rolls back the changes. This is just so frustrating. I mean, really.... Its just solitare!!! (Kidding, of course, I do need the remote server management tools....)
  6. Excellent! Thats what I have. Does that mean that I installed the wrong version of RSAT tools? http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...05-4e344e43997d Thats the link that I used.... Thanks again for all your help cluberti!!
  7. Hmmm... Good question, how would I tell? As far as I can tell, its NOT the RC1 install. Going to the "Advanced System Information" doesn't really tell me either way.
  8. Unsure why this was moved to "Unattended Windows 7" since my OS is already installed, and I'm trying to make changes to it now. But... If this gets me the help... WOOT WOOT!!! =D
  9. Erm.... You kinda lost me there. I'm still trying to get used to Windows 7. I downloaded and ran the x86 version from Microsoft. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...05-4e344e43997d That installed KB958830 and gave me the options in "Turn Windows features on or off" to turn them on, but opted to do the dism.exe within CMD.
  10. Features that won't install: +TelnetClient +InboxGames (Can't install any other games until InboxGames installs fine.) +SUA +RemoteServerAdministrationTools-ServerManager +RemoteServerAdministrationTools-Roles-AD-DS-SnapIns On another note. I had noticed that I had 29-days left to activate. I activated, rebooted, and tried the ServerManager one again, still failing. GAH!!!!!! =[
  11. I keep failing! I can't seem to figure out why either. Very frustrating. Its one thing to not let me install the feature RemoteServerAdministrationTools-ServerManager but not let me install Solitare is just RUDE! ;]~ Whats really confusing, is that it let me install the feature RemoteServerAdministrationTools-Roles-AD-DS just fine. I've tried the whole google thing on Error: 1603 but can't seem to come up with anything. Any help in this would be greatly appreciated. The command... 12. Well, I've tried that once before, and remembered why it didn't 'quite' work out for me. Logging in as the local administrator on the machine (2003 standard) I cannot simply remove them via your method. Which.. For this server, it isn't THAT big a deal, as there really isn't very many users who have logged onto this machine, but a couple of them, who have hundreds of users who have logged in, it tends to add up. Here is a screen shot of what I'm referring to in regards to the server in reference. Thanks for you help!
  13. oh man! thanks!!! that tool is GREAT!!!! hmm... i bet this could be written into a script, and you can enter the username, and the machines to check. food for thought for later! eitherway, thanks all!! =D
  14. We've had some system administrators leave the company, and I'm trying to go thru and remove their profiles where they have logged in. But getting some issues when doing a straight delete, there are some files locked. I'm hesitant to load Unlocker! onto the servers, and ALL the machines; so is there an easier way to delete their profile? C:\Documents and Settings\<profilename> Thats the one I'm trying to get rid of, combined some of their profiles are getting in the upwards of ~800MB... TIA!
  15. repacking = recreating that better? after i make a change (adding/removing software, things like that) to my xp build, i have to recreate the cd using the "CD Image GUI" (which works like a champ, love that!) and instead of buring the iso, i'm testing it by using a virtual machine, and booting off of that iso and reloading windows. as far as the reading... =**[ i've been on http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/1/ for like three days now, going back, and rereading. i seriously think i am missing something with the *.inf and the *.cmd but not sure what... lol
  16. Well... Taking a look at i386\TXTSETUP.SIF I found: [WinntDirectories] 1 = "\" Safe to assume that would be the same as %systemdrive%? Still not sure if I am going to use the *.inf or the *.cmd to install everything. Hrmmm...
  17. So I will be a little honest here. I've just recently started looking into the unattended windows installation, and sometimes feel a little overwhelmed. ^^ But I'm getting there. I'm at the 'Intermediate' level. Well, for the most part at least. LoL! Basically, my question is, what is the difference between the two for software/update installation? I mean. They both do the same thing basically, at least as far as I can tell. One issue that I have with the *.inf is that I can't seem to locate the %number% for %systemdrive% and it seems that most of the posts in the forum are geared towards the *.cmd type of installation. Just looking for a little guidance, as I am still playing with it. =D Also... On a side note, once I have my iso created, and I wanna make changes to it; can I just work directly with the iso using winrar or something instead of having to repackage the whole thing, and create the iso again? Like I said, I'm still playing with all this, and if I could cut that out of the whole process, it'd save me about 20 minutes, and I can get back to my virtual machine with the reload. LoL! Anywho... TIA for any replies! FRIDAY!!!!
  18. Yip... Having same issue. When I moved the file to the desktop (in hopes it just didn't like where it WAS), I get invalid path error. This is just freagg'n crazy! On another note... I just reformatted my machine. I HAD Office 2k7 installed and running lovely before. And now I'm getting this? What gives?
  19. ROFL! Figured as much, but... Figured it'd be better to cover ALL my bases... No harm intended, hahahaha! That the 'normal' TweakUI? I saw that a "special" TweakUI was installed, not sure if its the same, so far it has been tho... Hahahaha! Awesome! I'll start reading up! =D Thanks man! Shaun
  20. Sure... I have the "Kelsenellenelvian Add "File extensions toggle" to right click 1.0" installed in my version of Windows XP. And my question is... Is how do I toggle that off. I'd rather leave it on, and just have it so I can toggle it on and off thru some sort of GUI or command prompt. But if nothing else... I'd like to uninstall it. Also... Where is the Kelsenellenelvian TweakUI Addon located? Thanks in advance!! Shaun
  21. Hey ya'll... Just curious where the following get installed. I like 'em, just want to remove the one that has the * at the end... TY! =] Kelsenellenelvian Resource Hacker Addon 3.40 Kelsenellenelvian TweakUI Addon 2.1.10 Kelsenellenelvian Add "File extensions toggle" to right click 1.0 * Kelsenellenelvian Add "Hidden files toggle" to right click 1.0
