  1. @kartel Did you read my original post? Please read the original post. Thanks for your suggestion though.
  2. But has anyone seen this before? Anyone heard of a fix?
  3. @bola Take a look at this: Vista Re-activation
  4. No one else has seen this issue before?
  5. Can you please explain your reply? What do you mean for active? Do you have a screenshot? Thanks.
  6. Hi, I like to set my view in Windows Explorer by details (ie. from the VIEW menu option -> DETAILS). Now, everytime I close Windows Explorer and re-open the application, the view resets itself to something else. How can I make Vista remember by set view? I do have set the option to "Remember each folder's view settings" from Tools -> Folder Options -> View. Does this happen to anyone else? How can I fix it? I know in XP that a registry setting had to be changed to tell Windows how many folder views to remember (default 400). That number in Vista is already set to 5000 views. Thanks.
  7. @Zxian Actually, backup utility used (which by the way, it's actually a disk cloning software for failing HDD) is not the main concern. The main concern is that a file encryption software that uses a private key has problems encrypting files that are compressed. So if no files are compressed, then the encryption software could perform its job.
  8. And otherwise, there is no way to prevent the file compression from being used? FAT32 lacks the security provided by the NTFS partition, so in an enterprise environment that not an option. Thanks for the reply though. Anyone with any other ideas?
  9. Hi, There are certain disk cloning tools and file encryption applications that cannot deal with compressed files. Is there a way to disable the option to compress files? I would like to have the possibility to not allow users to compress their hard drive using the WinXP utility (see attached screen shot). Thanks!
  10. Thank Nuno Brito. I will post my WMI question on boot-land.net forum.
  11. @Nuno Brito Actually, I do have another question for you. How would I go by enabling WMI in this version of Windows. I need to run some software that gets some information from the WMI repository. How would I go about making this image bootable from a USB key? Thanks.
  12. @Nuno Brito I got it to work!! It appears that I was getting these errors when I was using RAMDisk. I switched to File Based Write Filter and everything tested ok. Thanks very much for all your help and sorry to keep bothering you! YAY!!
  13. I have tried your suggestion to disable autoUPX and I get the same errors. I have attached a screen shot of the errors that I am getting.
  14. @Nuno Brito Thank you very much with your help with this. I managed to get LiveXP going but only up to a point. As soon as I get into Windows, I get two errors that say BROWSEUI.DLL & SHDOCVW.DLL are missing. After I click OK on the dialog box for these two errors, the system reboots. This becomes a continuous loop. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks again!
  15. @Nuno Brito I have tried to create a LiveXP ISO using WinBuilder, but I encountered the following problems: 1. After creating the ISO, I used VMware to run the file and I received a message that the BIOSINFO.INF file is missing. I added that file to the ISO using MagicISO 2. After adding that file, I again ran the ISO in VMware and I got another message; this time KDCOM.DLL was missing. I added that. 3. After adding the two missing files, I ran the ISO again and I got a message this time in regards to NTOSKRNL.EXE, that it cannot be loaded. Even if I add another version of that file to the ISO, the error persists. What am I doing wrong? Thanks
  16. @Nuno Brito Thanks for your reply. I'm wondering, how do I get that script created by holger? The link that you have provided (http://www.boot-land.net/forums/index.php?...ic=652&st=0) is for WinBuilder. Is this it? How would I used it? If you can please get back to me, that would be appreciated. Thanks.
  17. No one has any idea on how the 24h limit can be broken? I need to clone defective drives that could last well past the 24h limit. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

    PELoader

Hello everyone, I have been trying to find a way to start this peloader application in WinPE and I can't find anywhere instructions on how to do it step-by-step. If I just try running it from the command prompt I get the following message: "You need not use a patched Winlogon to break WinPE/BartPE resource limits . Please make a normal WinPE/BartPE build to make use of PE Loader." I do not haved a patched Winlogon. The version of PE that I am using was created with WinXP PRO SP2. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
  19. Has no one ever needed to use the wireless in WinPE? Someone? I would really appreciate some help with this. Thanks again.
  20. Hi, I would like to configure my wireless card in WinPE with a certain SSID and connect to a wireless rounter. If it's not possible to confire the SSID, then how about to just get the wireless to work in WinPE. Right now, I am able to install the wireless adapter and I even get an IP (don't know from where), but I cannot ping anything. Thanks.
  21. Hello everyone, I have been trying for a while now to write a script for WinPE that can enable or disable the on board network adapter, but I do not know how I can do that. I was thinking of using the WMI classes, but I do not know where to start. Using the WMI classes I can find the name of the NIC, the IP and all the other good stuff; but it seems that all those classes are read only and therefore I cannot modify the parameters. Any suggestions from anyone would be appreciated. Thanks
