  1. My deepest apologies Ponch if my post happened to step slightly outside of "nLite ground". I am simply trying to learn more and it appears as though my attempts have only revealed my misunderstanding of what nLite is meant for. Thank you jaclaz for pointing me in the right direction. Thank you also Ponch for your attempts. In the future I will make sure to be absolutely positive that my post relates only to the forum for which it is meant.
  2. By "image" do you mean how the recovery partition looks. I've actually been successful in creating an unlocked copy of the rec. part. to a folder that has the I386 folder, boot.ini, and WIN51 files etc... Using nLite it does not see the i386 folder and when you say "try first" that means...?
  3. So....you're tellin' me theres a chance...
  4. Is it possible to create an unattended disk using ONLY the Recovery partition(or disks created from partition for recovery) and whatever tools are available for download? If so, can someone point me in the right direction? Thank you.
  5. I am having the same problems. So hopefully someone will post the path forward soon.
  6. I am a newb and this is my first post. So if this is the wrong forum please let me know. Just picked up a dv9008nr and would like to do a clean install of WinXP MCE that came on it. I do not not have any install cds as they now provide the backup on the hard drive. So what I understand (or think I do) is that I create recovery cds from the hard drive of the the Orginal OS with bloatware. Then I use something like nLite and the recsources on the unattended windows website to "taylor" the recovery OS as to how I want it. The following is something I read at another website: " I made recovery DVDs, dumped the SWSETUP folder to DVD, and backed up the wpa.dbl(activation info) file from \windows\system32 first. I integrated Windows updates, drivers, Java, Firefox, etc, and that wpa.dbl file into the install DVD, which makes doing reinstalls a LOT easier (once you figure it out). Now I've got Windows installed the way I want without any HP bloatware." The laptop is my girlfriends and ideally I would like to create an unattended windows boot cd with: her current OS that came with the lappy minus bloatware and unnecessary BS, appropraite activation info and windows updates, and also any necessary programs. Questions: How are the recovery disks that you create different from the OS CD you used to get? Is there a posting or forum out there that can direct me in the right direction regarding my post? This is somehting I would really like to do and I have been reading through the website trying to learn. Hopefully my really long and winded post doesn't reveal to much of my ignorance.
