I am replacing the CD driver with a DVD burner on my Dell GX260. I have done this type replacement before on other machines. My problem this time is that the exterior of my computer is contoured with the CD driver deeply recessed - I am sure for cosmetic reasons. The new driver has a plane face. If I install it this way it will not fill the hole and will let too much dust in besides looking cobbled up. Can I take the covers off both and put the old cover on the new driver? If so do I just force it off? Will it harm the driver if I pull the tray open to do so? Any other indeas or suggestions?? Thank you!
