  1. Yes, I have open a dos box and give a "ipconfig /all" TCPIP settings changed (different IP address) on the network adapter. Plug in the cable and..... event viewer says: Yoh, you have network connection, timesvr started but failed. When I start the explorer then I see that the proxy settings is found but no connection to www Disabled firewall and mcafee: no result. Change the adapter settings to automatic and the computer gives me the 169.254.131.164 IP address. (MS) Disabled the onboard adapter and uses a PCI Lan adapter. Problem still exist. I don't see conflicts in the event viewer related to other hardware. When you plug the cable in the adapter you have to see a Internet connection, and I see that on the other pc's. On the Fujitsu I do not see a new connection, the only change is the adapter self "Connection with firewall".
  2. I'm sharing internet with the neighbours via a switch. Unfortunately the computer don't get an IP address. My configuration: Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo 600 P Mainboard: D1625 Onboard Intel® Pro/100 VE Network adapter. When I use my own network with a router and cross cable then I have an IP address. The onboard adapter is OK. Conclusion: Cross cable / router works. Straight cabel / switch don't works. No messages in the event viewer. I have reinstalled the network adapter. There are no problems when I put the cable in an another computer. It's only the Fujitsu where it's not working. It drives me crazy
