  1. Thanks for your help guys, but nothing worked! I did finally get an email from Belkin asking me loads of questions that to me had nothing to do with the matter in hand. Instead of me emailing and waiting again I called them instead, after being told "we're sorry but all our advisors are busy, please call back later" more times than I care to mention, I finally got through. I was asked all the stupid questions again, told to do everything I had already tried again and it still didnt work. After being put on hold a few times and after having been through all the above rubbish the guy finally agreed to send me out a new one. Althought I havent received any confirmation like the guy said I would. Hopefully the replacement will work. I had a Belkin router before this one and that one decided it didnt want to allow the wireless access anymore so it was replaced with this one. I think if I have to buy another router in the future I will stear well clear or Belkin!
  2. Has that been in the warranty period, because I'm not sure if my router is still in warranty. Done it and its still doing the same thing, but now with none of my settings. I did have but I took the other one out and its still doing the same.I've not had a reply to my email to Belkin yet either.
  3. I have the Belkin Wireless Pre-N Router Version 2000 and I am having big problems with it! I cant log into the router at all, wired or wireless connection, I can access the internet and my LAN ok but not the router. I can get as far as the welcome page but when I try to do anything else the router does not respond. The Firmware Version is 2.01.02 which is the latest version available (even if it is old). I have tried everything including resetting the router but it still does the same, and now due to it being reset its lost all my settings and has become an unsecure connection. Plus the wireless connection keeps dropping off randomly. I have emailed Belkin about this but I havent heard anything yet. I've also googled the matter and have found a few forums mentioning problems with the router but no solutions. Help me please!
  4. Get a half decent sound card, but make sure it has LINE IN, theyre not expensive! I've recorded things onto my computer from external devices and used both Cool Edit and Audacity in the past. Audacity is free and will do what you need it to do. You can find it Here If you do use audacity and have any questoins just post in here and I'll see what I can do
  5. Thanks for the posts guys! So basically AGP cant go any further than it has, so PCI-E is the next step up? Theres not much difference (if any) between a 256mb AGP graphics card and a 256mb PCI-Express graphics card? Am I right in presuming PCI-E will go further than AGP ever did, otherwise there wouldn't be much point in changing to PCI-E? ---- I've just been looking at the 7600gt, 7900gs and 7900gt, but they are a bit out of my price range at the moment. I've had a look and theres loads of PCI-E graphics cards ranging from £10 to over £300. All I'm looking for is a decent 256mb+ graphics card with TV out and a £50 price limit. I've been looking at Eclipse Computers as thats where I'm getting the rest of my parts from. If anyone could point me in the direction of a card from there I'd be grateful!
  6. AGP or PCI-Express? I'm not a massive gamer but I treated myself to a new game today, installed it and then found out my graphics card wasn't quite good enough to run the game. I have a GeForce 6200 and it wanted the Geforce 6600 and above, typical isn't it! I thought a while ago about upgrading my computer but have put it off until now. I currently have the Asus K8N mother board running a AMD Sempron 3000+ and the Geforce 6200 grpahics card as I mentioned above. I have been looking at parts to build a new PC and will probably end up getting the following mother board and processor: - Mother Board = Asus A8V-XE S939, PCI-E, SATA2, Lan, 5.1Snd, ATX Processor = AMD Athlon64 3700+ Socket 939 (Sandiago) CPU -Retail Box- My problem lies with the fact I know nothing at all about these new PCI-E graphics cards. I know my way around a computer inside and out, but I just havn't needed to know anything about the PCI-E therefore I don't. I know AGP is being phased out and PCI-E is to be its replacement, but thats about all I know. Can someone explain to me (in plain english) what the main differences are between AGP and PCI-Express (apart from they are different slots)? Is there any speed difference between a 256mb AGP graphics card and a 256mb PCI-Express grpahics card for example? Any recommendations?
