  1. Thanks, but when I right clicked on the file I originally donwloaded there was no option to unblock. Thanks anyway David
  2. Running Vista Ultimate I have come across an annoying glitch. If I try to run a particular program that does not have a valid signature (although it is perfectly safe) I get the warning under the above heading: "The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software?" I am then given the name and location of the program with a check box which is ticked by default asking "Always ask before opening this file" I remove the tick from that check box, and get the program to run, but the next time I run the program I get the same annoying screen. The tick or check box seems to have no useful effect. Is there anything I can do to tell Vista that I trust the program and would like it to run each time I ask it to run without being asked the annoying question? Thanks David
  3. I tried, having fully removed Autoroute including all references to it in the Registry and after using msconfig.exe to disable all start up programs, to reinstall Autoroute, but again, after installation, when I tried to start the program, I got exactly the same message. I am now at my wits end to know what to try. What seems surprising, is that it worked perfectly well initially and for some reason unknown to me has now stopped. I really don't know what to do now. I need the program but cannot use it.
  4. I have opened "Event Viewer" and cannot locate any reference to the failed event. Am I in the wrong place? I attach a copy of the message (screen shot) I get when I try to start AutoRoute 2007. I have also looked in "Problem Reports and Solutions" with nothing showing for the failures this morning or yesterday. Please give instructions on how to access the log. Many thanks AutoRouteError.pdf
  5. Back at the end of July 2007 I installed Autoroute 2007 on my Vista Ultimate machine (huge free disk space and huge amount of RAM) and everything worked perfectly until today, when, trying to start it I got the following message: "Your registry settings for this application were not copied correctly. To correct these settings, run Setup again for this application from the location where you originally installed it." I ran Setup again but got the same message. Whilst running Setup I was asked to repair rather than uninstall, which is what I did. I therefore uninstalled and re-installed, but got the same message. I therefore uninstalled, shut down, fired up again checked there was no reference to Autoroute in the Registry, removing all references, shut down again, fired up for the second time, reinstalled, shut down a third time, fired up again and tried to run Autoroute, but, sadly, got the same message. Has anyone got any suggestions about how I can get Autoroute 2007 working again without reverting to an earlier backup or restore point. I have no idea what I have added since the last backup and do not believe I have tried Autoroute 2007 since the last restore point, so would be wary of doing either. Thanks
  6. When I close Windows XP Pro x64 Edition down I get the message that I can "Click Turn Off to Install Important Updates" alternatively I can click to turn off without installing them. I also get the yellow instal shield with its exclamation mark in the task bar telling me that I have software to instal. However the software I have to instal is Security Update for Flash Player (KB913433) and it will not instal. Does anyone know how I can either get that update to instal (as far as I can see I have not got Flash Player installed, at least I cannot see it under <Start> <Programs>), or remove it so it doesn't keep telling me I have software to instal, whether on the task bar or on shut down. Thanks David
  7. The problem is solved by disabling the virus checker from checking for viruses in Microsoft Office documents as they are opened. That means they are still checked when downloaded or transferred to the computer, but not when they are opened within one of the office programs. It is a work around that gives temporary relief.
  8. I have been using Office 2007 BETA 2 for some time and, with one or two minor problems that I was told we would be corrected in an upgrade, have been very pleasantly surprised by it. I then added TR and my problems started. TR is a wonderful interface, very attractive and giving the appearance of speed and versatility. However I could not load existing documents saved in word xp .doc, word beta 2 docx format into word. I tried loading existing excel files saved in xls and xlsx format but again I could not In both those cases I got a message alleging my virus protection was causing a problem and I needed to update it. I was fully up to date with Norton, right up to the minute, but still could not load. Even if I turned off my virus protection I could not load. I then tried to open access database files, and this time nothing happened. I was not told that I had a virus checking problem or that I did not have permissions or anything at all, just nothing, nada, nihil. I had to unload BETA 2 and TR, reload XP and reload BETA 2, so that I could still get at my files. UGH! it was a frightening moment. Now not only are all my files saved in XP format as well as BETA 2, I have also acquired the conversion so that, hopefully, I can read files saved in BETA 2 format on an XP machine. Not Good News for me. David
  9. Hi, I have been impressed with the appearance of TR but oh dear I cannot open any existing documents, databases or files. I cannot open existing Word files because there is a problem with my virus software not being up to date. It is right up to date! and is Norton! I cannot open my Excel files for the same reason. I cannot open any Access database files and this time I am given no reason. They just do not open. I haven't tried saving any new documents, files or databases and opening them, preferring to unload BETA reload XP and then reload BETA without TR. Any one else suffering the same problems? David
