  1. Oh im sorry, I want to give them Read/Write Permissions, and Admins full Permissions. lemme go edit the topic.
  2. Is there a way to lets say, automate creating many folders, with specific names, and a set shared/security setting? I need to create around 300-400 folders with different names (corresponding to peoples login names) and set the sharing so that it gives domain admin full control, and that person read/write control, in both sharing and security. Really dont wanna do it by hand. Thanks guys! Please help ><
  3. Heya guys, on my spare comp i have installed my old XP Pro OEM that use to be on my main comp. The computer has 2 SCSI HD's and i put a shared folder on each. Whenever i save anything to the share on C drive's shared folder from the Browser Firefox (well, "Bon Echo" which is the Firefox beta) i cant access that file from my other computer, returns and says i dont have administrative rights or something similar. It wont even return proper Icon info on it, just shows as a generic program icon. Now if i copy and paste it there, move it out manually and back in, or even use IE to save it there instead then it works fine? Also This doesnt happen on the shared folder on the Slave drive. Now Ive even tried making different folders on each drive, each produces the same thing as the first one on that drive did. Why would Firefox/Firefox Beta cause such behavior in the files it saves there? i go to the properties of the files and i dont see anything that would maby flax it as not shared, but then again i dont see anything that would be relevant to that at all. Its as if its saving them there with a "view name only" tag, not even a read only Anyone have any ideas or fixes? Thanks!
  4. Odd :/ i thought it worked for me, even if you use the windows sound recorder you instantly hear the difference. And why the heck was this moved to hardware? this is totally a vista question that no one outside the vista testing would know Move it back ><
  5. I know its possible in Vista to attack a USB2 Flash drive and have it use it for some of the page file (the most recent) and it then also mirrors that on the HD and usses the rest of the HD page file for the slightly older files. Is it possible to use a 3-4gig Flash drive (their only like 60-70 bucks now) and use it as the main Page File without relying on the HD at all for the page file? (maby by setting no page file, then connecting a flash disk and making it be used as the page?) And if so, would that be better in any way then having it mirror itself to the HD at all?
  6. That i have done already. you go to sound settings and then the recording tab. right click the microphone and hit [properties. in the window that opens one of the tasbs will have vol control one of the others will let you set the +20db (or whatever ) Boost. But I havent figured out how to set it so that it shuts the heck up and doesn't relay what its picking up 24/7 through the speakers. Problem is thats usually controlled by the Speaker controls. and in Vista it seems while the mic has a very customizable interface, the speaker controls are governed by some Wizard and you cant select the finer settings anywhere :/ Its one of those things if not changed, i could totally see a 3rd party program comming out that gave you access manually to all the settings.
  7. Anyone else have any idea? Its is really annoying because i know there must be a way, and its just that I dont know how/Where to set it. I need to pretty much do what was posted right above me, but within the new completely different Vista control settings.
  8. The new sound controls are different in Vista, Espically the microphone ones. How do you set it so that the microphone works when an application needs it, but doesnt always pick up sounds and play them out the speaker (like the old "what you hear" option did) The microphone options are weird too, they only seem to take effect after a reboot. (like enabling "what you hear", "digital input" etc.) Im not seeing a normal option Since "what you hear".. sure it works but i never used that in XP because it always also played 24/7 out the speakers. if i used that id have to use the on/off switch on the microphone all the time :/ Im using a SB X-fi card and Creative drivers if that changes anything. Thanks!
