Paid Micro$oft. Correct, but to clarify, I bought an OEM version and "repaired" the original XP Pro which was already...on the machine... I believe you could get a patch kinda thing from MS, but I went for the OEM from a legit outlet.

I fairly recently legitamised to an OEM SP2 XP PRO. I installed it as a repair, so as not to have to do an entire clean install. If I remember correctly, at the very begining the "Search" facility was available, but at some point some weardness occured, and now if I want to search for a file anywhere on the machine nothing happens at all. Well maybe the HD light glimmers a couple of times, but the Search console fails to appear. Any ideas.... pls.
